Its pretty simple, the fewer guns around the better. I guess that is still above your thought process. Ask your hubby ...
Tell me how banning ordinary people from having guns will have any affect on criminals activities with guns. You can't. Your logic is extremely flawed.
Tell me how many criminals will give up their guns?

If strictly so, then Switzerland ought to be in perpetual civil war right now with an automatic rifle in so many homes.

Are you that thick too? The fewer guns around means that fewer people will have access to weapons. Its not rocket science.

Yep. And that is the worst possible scenario.

That is the essence of the argument.

If you believe in the ability of people to decide their own fate, if you believe in individual rights, if you believe that people should have control of their own destiny, if you believe in the very foundations of democracy.........then you believe the mass of the people armed is a very good thing.

If not....well......

Democracy was built with gunpowder.........firearms and modern political freedom are parallel developments.

Maybe the problem is that the semi-auto's you find are just not enough of a deterrent to stop crime. Put an automatic assault rifle in every home like the Swiss do, and bang, the crime rate drops like a rock. It's a kind of MAD approach. You mess with me, and I'll change you into Swiss cheese (pardon the pun).

Northern Ontario,
I think I wrote before that A liberal is a person whose interests aren't at stake at the moment.
Which is true....If you don't own guns and a lot of people don't, you wouldn't care if they banned them all.

That is true, but accidents happen. Shooting someone with a gun is not an accident. Smarten up.

People have dropped rifles, or shot at something not realizing a person was in the way, or fired as a joke not knowing a bullet was lodged at the time.

All those are stupid accidents that can be solved through proper training. What's the injury or death rate in Switzerland?

And you actually think that violence was the correct approach? If so, I feel sorry for you.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OMG! That is hilarious!

I am sorry Risus, but ..... how in the world do you think people came to control their own governments???

By force of arms. The American Revolution was not fought with Nerf bats. Neither was the French, which spread the idea of Liberty, Equality, Fraternity throughout Europe.......as for Great Britian, she developed democracy is slow stages, all of which were marked with violence.....from the threat to King John in 1215, to the Civil Wars of the mid 17th Century, (which gave Parliament supremacy), to the uprising throughout Europe in 1848..........not to exclude the Canadian rebellions of 1837, which scared Britain straight......(they remembered 1776)

Please....read a little history.

Find the cost of freedom.....buried in the ground......(apologies to CSN)

We need to make a distinction too between force and violence. force is used with a clear objective in mind in conformity with right. Violence is the damage or injury of person or property with no valid reason.
