Many stories like this one.....

Hi All
I have called Mark Kirk and many others personally. I have a story very like Natoma's -- with a twist. My sister -- a university grad with a job and paying into a health plan -- was diagnosed with colon cancer. To make a long story short the insurance company canceled her because she "was too expensive." When she died in her early 40's(!) she had lost her house her assets was on welfare and eating out of handouts and food banks. Nice. My son on the other hand became quite ill when he was in gr. 9 and we were here in Ontario. Within a week he had seen our family doctor, a specialist, had x-rays and blood work stress tests etc. done and had been referred to and seen by the head of thoracic medicine at Sick Kids. He was operated on 24 hours later. He was in Sick Kids about 9 days with 24/7 nursing and post-op care.
My total bill? $42.87 for bandages adhesive tape etc. Thank God we were here. I have nightmares thinking what might have happened to us if we were in the States!
I am praying for the success of reform. I still do not understand what the big deal is!!!

You're first article was proven completely wrong. Bad mortgages, credit-card debt, no health care and under insured contribute to bankruptcy. This is just fear mongering by the liberals. The rest is just spam.

Kind of hurts when you see Canada's wealthy and politicians skipping your health care plan for the US Medical Centers.

But hey, when the US Government takes over Health Care maybe they will stay home.

Our Soviet-style emergency rooms have waiting rooms equipped with hard metal chairs, vending machines that sell junk food, and maybe a television in one corner. There is no access to any medical equipment, beds, or even stretchers. In the emergency room everyone passes through triage and is given a code based on a nurse’s cursory evaluation of their affliction. If you are not satisfied with the "care" that is provided there is nowhere else to go, except to an American hospital if you are close enough to the border and can afford to pay cash. Canadians know that if you call an ambulance you can bypass the 10–12 hour wait in the emergency room, but this drives up the costs of healthcare even further.

So you deny people lose their homes and go bankrupt because of health care costs?

Kind of hurts when you see Canada's wealthy and politicians skipping your health care plan for the US Medical Centers.

Kind of sad when you see poor Americans come here for cheap drugs and the flu shot.

But hey, when the US Government takes over Health Care maybe they will stay home.

Takes over?

Like I said, I don't deny problems we have in some areas. Still, we live longer and our babies are more likely to survive and no one is losing there home over it either.

I would model our system after the one in France.

Some but the survey ignored all other factors. It was done by Harvard so that SHOULD tell you a lot.

Kind of sad when you believe these myths.

Poor Americans get the best health care around and pay absolutely nothing. Not a thing. When you are poor and are at the public trough everything is paid for.

You should read up on who suffers when they are not insured. It isn't the poor.

Flu shots? They were giving them out at Wal-Mart and the Supermarket. LOL. Going to Canada for a flu shot.

Takes over?

That was funny? What really made you laugh about that?

Well like I have said. The US House and Senate are making themselves exempt from any Health Care Plan that they pass for us.

What does that tell you?

"Quite. It remains to be seen if democrats have the guts to pass it, or they play chicken yet again, as they did under Clinton (and paid a heavy price for it in 1994 elections)."

Nothing to with being chicken. More to do with being STUPID.

Two famous quotes are in order here: "Those who do not learn from history are dommed to repeat it" and "The surest sign of insanity is doing the same thing and expect a different result".

Americans did NOT want Hillarycare in 1994 and they do NOT want Obamacare now.

That is your opinion, YJ. Americans elected Democrats in 2008. If Democrats are not going to pass the health care bill, why did they run for election, to be carbon copies of Republicans?

My hope is that they will pass the health care reform and then face the electorate in November. If they lose as result of it, so be it. It is much better to lose an election because you accomplished something than to lose an election because you did nothing.

Now if the new:roll:improved;-)bill passes on Sunday.....off it goes to the senate.....
And the ping pong game continues:lol:
Politicians...bah!!!

The ping pong does NOT continue. If Democrats use the Demonpass, then Senate bill will have passed and it will go to Obama for signature. The additions and alterations to Senate bill, they will go back to the Senate. But Senate bill will be in the bag, assuming Democrats use the Demonpass.

Polls are fairly divided on that Jack, If the dumbocrats were better at communicating then I feel that the number would show high favor for government insurance. Fear sells better in the US so the Republican talking points are the ones that are listened to because they are simple and scary, both things Americans relate to.

To be honest, Americans don't deserve cheap, accessible and quality health care.

The polls are interesting. While a majority of Americans oppose the health care bill, a significant number of them oppose it because it does not go far enough.

So, while many people want to scrap the bill and start over again, there is little support for the Republican position, do nothing and ignore the problem (as Republicans did when they were in power for 12 years).

People clearly want health care reform, if not this particular bill. Big deal, I hope democrats go ahead and pass it.

There is nothing 'fear' about it, it is a reality. 70% of the bankruptcies last year were due to heath care costs, according to CNN.

Well there you go.

They did not mention that mortgages and credit card debt also factored into those bankruptcies. They failed to mention it was a combination of things.

Does it happen? Sure. Couple that with living above your means.

Stick to Cricket.

Yuo can't argue with statistics, can't respond to statistics with political propaganda, EagleSmack. If you think that 60% (I thought it was 70%) figure is wrong, put up a link which you think shows the correct figure. Even if you think there are zero bankruptcies due to health care costs (I assume that would be the Republican position), you must provide a link for that.

Your party did absolutely nothing about heath care costs when they were in power for 12 years. Now if you are saying there were no bankruptcies due to health care costs, put up a link, rather than just political propaganda.

When health care was being debated, Republicans searched the world over to look for horror stories about other health care systems, to convince Americans how their health care is the best in the world, and how people are dying in the streets due to lack of health care everywhere except in USA. I assume far right dug this one up at that time.

But American health care has resulted in lowest life expectancy in developed world, one of the highest infant mortality and highest maternal morality (mothers dying during childbirth) in the developed world.

Some? Really, is it some? How much is some? I have never seen a number lower than 50% on this matter.

Poor Americans get the best health care around and pay absolutely nothing. Not a thing. When you are poor and are at the public trough everything is paid for.

Really? So if it's the best and it's at the public trough shouldn't you all get it?

You should read up on who suffers when they are not insured. It isn't the poor.

I already knew, red herrings bring out some truths.

Flu shots? They were giving them out at Wal-Mart and the Supermarket. LOL. Going to Canada for a flu shot.

A few years back we had Americans coming here because you ran out, we still get them coming here for drugs.

That was funny? What really made you laugh about that?

It's funny because you believe that is what's happening.....when in place your convoluted system won't be the same as ours which is mostly government run.

That is the Republican position, Avro. US health care system is the best in the world, it has no problems, and any attempt to improve it will result in people dying in the streets, as they do everywhere except n USA. That is why Republicans did not touch health care when they were in power for 12 years, they were quite happy to leave it in the hands of their buddies, the insurance companies.

Kind of sad when you see poor Americans come here for cheap drugs and the flu shot.

Shhhh. That is something to be swept under the carpet, pretend that it doesn't exist.

And don't forget, she is less likely to die during childbirth than an American woman.

There is an old, but true and valid saying: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Meantime, the Democrats, under the tutelage of the most UNQUALIFIED and most immature and petulant and thin-skinned "president" are ready to throw out the baby (those which were not aborted) with the bath water.

ONLY for political propaganda.
