Ok then...

How about Pamela Anderson?
Phony boob bimbo? lol You are a funny guy.

I'd go for Sarah McLachlin, Leonard Cohen, Gordon Lightfoot, or Shania Twain if I was to choose someone famous. I'd prefer to have Heather the hairstylist or Pete the plumber, though.

Lightfoot would be an interesting choice, but not sure he would make it up the steps...

I know he quit his boozing, but he has had a lot of health problems.
oh, yeah. Well, he was interviewing with CBC radio a few weeks ago and said he was feeling pretty peachy. He said he's even decided to quit messing up with women.

I saw that interview. He sure looks his age.
Gawd, I hope so. It'd be really weird if he looked my daughters' ages.

How do you figure that?

He was sold like field cattle to an American team. Can't blame him for just getting on with it.

When he bought a team it was the old Nordique.

He has made it well known that he has NO DESIRE to move back to Canada.

Anyone but gretzky. He abandoned Canada, doesn't deserve to do it.
I told my husband what I had reported here and he had exactly the same opinion as you. Yes - it should be a Canadian through and through. I really like the idea of a randomly picked Canadian child lighting the torch.

Steve Fonyo, to make up for all the cruelty and abuse he had to put up with, just because he dared to accomplish what Terry Fox - in all fairness, NOT because of anything under his control - could not.

I like an idea I heard today.

Wayne Gretzky takes the torch almost to the caldron, and
then a large figure lights up. It is Terry Fox, who then,
by computer wizardry, lights the cauldron.

I don't like the idea of Wayne Gretzky doing it, hockey is
so much stronger than anything else in canada, and I don't
like to advertise this olympics as though it is a big
hockey tournament.

Yes Jack, I'm sure we all want a man with a criminal record to be the one to carry the last torch.

He could be the first handcuffed guy to light the flame.

You mean you can't imagine a "Bay Watch" moment as she carries the torch?
What a horrible moment that would be. She is from "just down the road" a ways. Far better it be Diana Krall who has some class and is from right here in this city. Her Dad lives here.
With all the rain I am amazed the torch doesn't burn out! The skiers are already angry because the rain is turning the snow to ice. Conditions are not very good. They are saying there is a whole load of "stars" there tonight.
