We're tied with colorado now at the top of the northwest
division, although they are given the nod because of
less games played I guess.

Big game coming up saturday with Chicago, who defeated
calgary tonight.
We are getting too thin at defence, a bit of a worry.

canucks are going to have to think seriously about acquiring another defenceman, and i know they don't
want mathew schneider, who is playing in manitoba, so
not sure how they will handle this injury problem on
the back end.

canucks played a good game, being on the back end of a
back to back schedule, they got better as game went on,
and some of the puck control put on by sedins, and also
burrows joining them at times, is really remarkable.

burrows tenacious checking got him another goal, he made
auld look foolish, and set himself up for another goal,
what can anyone say about this guy, he is special.

Mason raymond also played very well again, and got a beautiful
goal, to get the canucks on the score sheet.

Yes Naslund was the leader for a while. I had to look it up. Your detail memory is a lot better than mine.

Hienrich is going to have to defend his lead. The biggest danger is likely Ovetchkin but any of the top players could get a streak going.

Ovetchkin got 3 points tonight, and henrik 1, so henrik is
still 3 points ahead.

henrik will have to be very consistent, as ovetchkin seems
to be putting it in high gear now, and he has also played
less games, due to injury, so he is a dangerous guy to have
right behind you in the standings.

I am not a Flames fan by any stretch of the imagination, but there are a lot of games left to be played. The Flames are not close to being out of the playoffs at this point and time.

Absolutely right, in mathematical terms, I was thinking more in terms of breaking their spirit and their confidence, combined with a couple of other teams going on a tear, and then their work could be cut out for them.

Calgary played a good game last night against chicago,
much like they did when they played canucks, but even
a very good team can be beaten by chicago on any given
night. Calgary are having trouble scoring, even iginla
can't seem to buy a goal.

I remember not so long ago, canucks had that exact problem,
and we play calgary two more times, hopefully those games
will be 'ours' and not 'theirs'.

chicago will be in vancouver saturday night, should be a
good one, IF we can muster up enough good defence to keep
pucks out of our net, if baumgartner is the best we can
find, we are in trouble.

Vineault might also consider giving our backup goaltender a game or two. Agreed that it might not be the best of ideas when the defense is a bit decimated with injuries but Luongo has been letting in some pucks he normally would have stopped.

I was kind of hoping that now is the time for gillis to
think of trading away cory schneider and maybe another
player for a good defenceman, we are a little fragile back
there, even when healthy, cause injuries seem to plague
our defencemen on a fairly consistent basis.

souray would be a good find for us, and edmonton needs a
goalie desperately.
souray wants out of edmonton, being in the same division
might be the problem with that one, but there are others
around the league, on teams that are struggling and won't
be around for playoffs.

luongo will probably get a rest when we have our next back
to back, but I do understand why they didn't do it this
time, these games were so important, and losses would have
made a big difference. Luongo might have lots of rest during the olympics if brodeur goes all the way. He will
only have practices, or maybe one game early on against
one of the weaker teams.
He'll make the odd mistake, he's human, but overall he
plays a darn good game, glad to have him.

I just watched Burrows goal against Dallas for about the sixth time. I can remember damn few NHL games where a forward has stolen a puck from a goaltender and scored.......In fact none. I've seen forwards score on their own net........I've seen defensmen beat their own goalie on the short side......But a forward nipping in and tapping the puck away from the opposing goaltender and scoring must be pretty rare.

that was sweet, felt sorry for auld, he was actually left,
hung out to dry by his defencemen, then he muddled around
trying to stick handle his way out of the mess, 'not
with burrows around', he and datsyuk have got to be the two
best puck stealers in the league.
The focus that burrows has to do, 'whatever' he is doing,
is awsome.

In hindsight, I guess if he was in an absolute pinch, he could have fallen on the puck. At one point he had room to lift the puck down the ice, but hindsight is just that....hindsight.....Stick handling was not the right move...;-)

yeah, burrows was travelling extremely fast, kind of made
him freeze, if he had of shot the puck away in any direction I think burrows would have caught up to it anyway, as it got too late for him to do much of anything,
it seems his defencemen went to the corner, expecting him
to pass it over, (like turco would have), but auld isn't
turco, and isn't that comfortable out of his element, and
so far from his goal, he was in no-mans land.

Colorado defeated nashville tonight, so now avalanche are
two points up on us again.
Edmonton lost 'again', wow, what a miserable year they are
having. Looks good on Quinn.
He has trashed that team to the media so many times, not
very good, no class at all.
The last thing I heard him say is that they play like his
grandmother.
The team should get together, decide to 'not show' for
practice one day, just leave him a note, 'F***k you quinn.'

I hope I'm wrong but with 3 top 6 defensemen out this might be a tough one to stay competitive in. I wouldn't want to play the Hawks with this line-up, but who knows. I was wrong once. I don't remember when; someone told me.

Yeah, I mentioned that 'up' the page somewhere, baumgartner,
rome and lukowitch, will have to figure out how to be -
bieksa, salo and mitchell tonight, and if they don't, it
will be a long night.

I'm sure it was me who told you. lol

OK, if you said it first then I will blame you for the loss. I think I have it right..again. ;)

So far it is 3-0 for the Canucks at the end of the first......That could change....We'll see...;-)

The Hawks are obviously very good but you sense the Canucks show them too much respect. The Hawks are very confident and take a lot of chances yet the Canucks play them with a hesitation in their game. So far the result is there. If the tide starts to turn I'd send the team out with a lot more aggressiveness.
