Sure they did, Spade. But Hinduism was the first attempt at organized, monotheistic (or pantheistic) religion with beliefs, creed, Holy Book (or books etc.). If you are talking of tribal Gods or tribal spirits, religion is probably as old as humanity itself. I am sure prehistoric man thought that thunder, lightening was caused by Gods, as he sat cowering in his cave seeking shelter from the elements.
But Hinduism was the first systematic, organized attempt at religion and as such is indeed the oldest religion in the world.

Hello, YJ. Still around, I see. Not banned or anything. Good, good. And the last two paragraphs of my post nicely support the earlier paragraphs in the post. My point is that Islam is not to blame, no more than other religions, Muslims are to blame. My entire post supports that, there is no inconsistency anywhere.

That is what you believe, eanassir. But where is your proof? Your Islam is fully as valid as my Applism (which I have described before in these forums). Islam has no more proof in its support than Applism does. Indeed, in the eyes of the law, Islam and Applism would be considered equivalent. The only difference being that one has one billion supporters, the other has only one.

So a plausible argument can indeed be made for Hinduism being the oldest religion in the world. Incidentally, Dravid has no relation to David, the two are totally different.

BTW, some pompass is still wrong, because Hinduism did not have its roots in the older Mesopotamian religion.
