I think M Smarts Sunbeam was the Alpine model not the Tiger..

According to Motortrend, it's a Tiger.

I couldn't remember what year they ditched the pop-up headlights....A feature I really liked on the Miata. The Alpine wasn't a bad sports car but like all the Roots Group offerings, the parts could have come from anywhere. Adding that Ford engine gave it more acceleration but the weight of that V-8 did not help the handling
Yes, apparently the back end was reported to have a case of the wanders. lol It would have been awesome as a mid-engine, I think.

Twenty years ago , in Elkins ,West Virgina , Colpy ,I saw my first VW Bug with a rack to hold two firearms AND a hunting bow.
So, ya ,I still do.................
It's illegal to have firearms displayed in a vehicle here these days. lol I bet Colpy has his pickup jigsawed with compartments for carrying, though. ;)

That is a fun drive. My Miata would love it.
Yeah. Looks like an ok drive.
We have a few roads around here like that, some worse. The one between Kaslo and New Denver would be fun with a toy.

Hither and yon
The Healy 3000, priced at just over $3000.00 was, without a doubt, the best crumpet collector on the face of the Earth. The GT-6 wasn't far behind. The Jaguar XKE was also in that category but it cost three times as much so it was a little out of my range at the time.

Great cars Juan.

I have loved the look of the Healy since I was a kid.
The GT 6 not so much.
I would kill to get my hands on an old Healy on the cheap.
It isn't going to happen , I know.
But still a great car.
Smiths Instruments and Lucas electrics and all.

Had a buddy with a Tiger when I was I a kid.
Small-block Ford.
Seem to recall pulling plates in the footwells to reach the back spark plugs and so on.

As to your comments on the Elise.
Great car, I agree.
But lets face it, it's a track day car.
Just like a Caterham Super 7.
Untouchable on a tight track.
But totally impractical on on the street, day to day.

As to your Miata.
Another great little car.
Never owned one but I respect the heck out of them.
I have spent many a track day running a (supposedly)far faster and more expensive car than a Miata.
I learned to respect what a well set up Miata on a tight track can do.
They are seriously quick machines on a tight course.

If I were to own one more sports car it would likely be the Elise. It would have to be a coupe. I had enough water down my neck with the Healeys and the MG.s.

The Miata can be beaten by horsepower but not much else.

The good thing about the GT6 was that it was a very well thought out car. The engine, the suspension....were a great fit. It won it's fair share of prizes at the track as well.

Did you know that air conditioning is standard equipment on the Elise, along with the anti-lock brake system? I think I could rough it for a while...;-)

It looked like the guy kept his foot down through a couple puddles or wet spots and that is what got him sideways. I don't know why anyone would want that kind of power in a bloody pickup truck in the first place.

Every single twig or grain of sand on the road would be like a lightning bolt up your spine.
In wet weather it would be like skateboarding drunk in a hockey rink.
The trunk probably would hold a kleenex and a lost sock and not much more.

Magnificent car.
I want one.

For you that is probably so.
Keep driving them and please try and keep over to the far left lane.
Thank you.

God! Don't encourage him. Like all minivan drivers he'll be doing five klicks below the posted speed limit...

On a dry road it will get to sixty miles an hour in under five seconds, has a top speed of close to a hundred and fifty miles an hour, and it will out-corner anything on the road. Who needs a suitcase?.....;-)

There are a few small differences...Like roll cages....Driving skill.....Etc.
lol Yup. As I said, if you do it right. Those kids are just itching for the Darwinian Award, though. :D Probably the driver has never driven rear-wheel drive positrac before. You definitely have to compensate for the back end sideshifting.
