That is why he got a lot of teasing. Here is this 500,000 $ Cobra and it has to depend upon a lowly SUV to get it started. Of course it is understandable, seeing that he does not take it out of the garage all that much.
My guess is that your friend is simply a rich fool who doesn't have any respect for what he is able to buy nor the money he has to buy things with. He should be buying new Jaguars, Porsches, and Bimmers, not antiques.
We had a neighbor in the Okanagan that had a '70 Hemi Cuda droptop from day one (extremely rare as there was less than 20 built). It spent most of its life in a bay in his garage up on blocks, but he was in there a few times a month checking this that and the other thing. He ran it a couple times a month just to keep the oil circulating and seals from deteriorating. And he only bought it for about $5000.

I was a British sports car nut for years. Of all the dozens of cars I have owned, these two are my favorites: They are a 1961 Austun Healey 3000,(top) and a 1969 Triumph GT-6+(bottom)

Even when I was young and nimble, I never had any use for sportscars.

Once I had a trip in a '58 MGB from Bancroft, Ontario to Chibougamu, Quebec.

I NEVER, ever had such a back-breaking and tongue-biting experience. Just can't see how a $500,000 over-rated piece of expensive junk would be any different.

Jack....You haven't a clue. You never were young and nimble. Too many years of driving marshmallow suspended North American junk to appreciate a good handling car.

#juan, your post should be on the thread called "Defame the poster above you".

Stick to your lame recipes.

"Juan, until I saw the Cobra with my friend the plastic surgeon, I had not even heard of the Cobra. But after that I became interested and looked it up on the internet. Apparently not too many were made. Now they are priceless antiques."

Anyone who can amass a fortune such that spending $500,000 on four wheels seems like chump change, is obviously a person very successful in life, clever, smart and almost peerles in our mondane world. Deserves accolades and praises for financial acumen.

BUT, he is still an idiot for spending that much money for four wheels, attached to a back-breaking, tongue-wrecking, drag-your-ass-on-the-ground piece of expensive junk.

If he had any decent human qualities, he would have contributed some of that wealth for charity.

But being SirJosephPorter's friend, he is probably a fellow silver-spoon-in-the-mouth socialist, to whom charity for a fellow human being is some christian nonsense.

BTW, priceless has a few synonyms: odd, amusing, absurd. Or even WORTHLESS.

YJ, you don’t know the difference between priceless and worthless? Figures, English is your second language. Priceless and worthless are antonyms, not synonyms.

Aren't you just totally pissed off that you can't use the same false argument for others? I am still waiting for you to tell me YOUR second language.

BTW, if it has no price (i.e. PRICELESS) it has no worth (i.e. WORTHLESS).

It's good to compare: In the following table there are listed some of the most sought after cars in the world. One stands out. The Lotus Elise is pretty close to matching the performance of all these cars but for a fraction of their price:

#juan, appreciate your website, read it, decided that in spite of its veracity, my choice for "MOST WANTED" vehicle would still be a van. Preferably made by Toyota.
Travelling at 160 miles per hour can only appeal to natural born law-breakers.

Different strokes for different folks.

Yukon Jack you misunderstand almost every topic you enter. You have jumped in and slaged almost every topic and poster here at some point. Do me a favor and don't respond to my posts. I will not be responding to yours.

#juan, I promise this will be the last response to your posts.

Tell me, though, before we part forever, how my post that you quoted above got you to reach the conclusion you so bitterly express. It was only about a CAR, for Heaven's sakes!!

The Healy 3000, priced at just over $3000.00 was, without a doubt, the best crumpet collector on the face of the Earth. The GT-6 wasn't far behind. The Jaguar XKE was also in that category but it cost three times as much so it was a little out of my range at the time.

Gilbert these cars are away out of my price range. If you can find an Astin Martin Lagonda, you are likely to pay a hundred and fifty pounds or more.

The TVR is a bit better but still pricey by my standards.

On the other hand a mint condition Austin Healey 3000 will not be cheap either. Not long ago I saw a 1962 3000 in a Vancouver paper for #24,000.00...That is almost five times what the original owner paid for it.
