What never ceases to amaze me is the support the rightwing gave to a guy who couldn't put two sentences together in a TV interview without his wife at his side. Bush rarely held new conferences, and when he did he rarely said anything coherent. At least with Obama you get a President who is capable and willing to have regular intellectual conversations about real issues.

A. Providing there is a teleprompter.

B. Providing the questions are emailed to his staff prior to the interview.

C. Providing the interviewers are hand picked adorers who will only give softball questions.

D. Providing that town hall meetings are stacked with supporters.

Come on, give him at least that. If he's criticized for his communication skills then that puts into question the validity of any other criticisms. His ability to speak and think clearly is light years ahead of the haters and no-brainers in the GOP.

I do not think so. Bush's critics are also based on people who just plain hated him. Beleive me...there are just as many no brainers and even more haters in the Democrat Party.

I still remember the Shakespeare speech "I came to bury Caesar, not to praise him" from school, as an example of how the great "unwashed" can be swayed with the nice meaningless words of an astute politician......
Anther good example is "The Pied Piper........." and the children....

That's what I want my president to be! An intellectual who can have a nice conversation on philosophical subjects. That reminds me of my philosophy teacher, boy he had a stellar vocabulary. Maybe my professor should be president...

Certainly thinking straight is a good start.

"Then why do more than 90% of blacks consistently vote for Democrats, for the liberals, YJ? If conservatives are such a paragon of virtue as you claim, why do blacks avoid them like the Black Plague? Are you saying that blacks are too dumb to know their self interest?"

An antidote for HIV/AIDS would save millions of lives.
An antidote for cancer would save millions more.

Both of those are well within the bounds of reasonable expectations.

But: There is no antidote for stupidity. There is no antidote for monolithic idiocy.

I'm not denying that, but as much as I don't like what many Republicans represent I wouldn't call Ronald Reagan a poor communicator. Reagan, Clinton and Obama are great communicators, no matter how much we might dislike any. George Bush Sr was a very good communicator too. Dubya was a very poor communicator. If someone feels that any one of them weren't good at that, then, as Lyndon Johnson once said, they'd be criticized for their inability to swim if they walked on water.

Hey that is fine. I agree that GW wasn't a good communicator but I do not think he was a bozo either. I do not think George Sr. was a good communicator and I believe he lost the election because American's thought he was out of touch with the people. I supported George Sr. and was STUNNED when he refused to extend unemployment benefits to laid off workers during a recession with an election looming. That tells me he was out of touch. He said the numbers weren't that bad with regards to the economy but that doesn't sit well with families with one or more members out of work...or their relatives and friends.
