Yep, as JLM indicated,it's easy, just have no gods at all, then obviously there can't be a hierarchy of them.
I couldn't be bothered to look up the original post so this isn't specifically directed at you Dex, but feel free to chip in.
God is also sometimes called the 'higher power'. Somebody who can exercise their will in spite of our resistance to such 'action' not 'thought', action. We all deal with a form of that in one way or another each and every day.
If you suffer your wife's real-atives on 'special holydays', then you might want to read-on.
That makes her your 1st higher authority. The part you are going to not accept is that is also part of the connection between man/wife and the mirror where things really matter God/Holy Spirit.
We all also yield right-of-way to certain colors of flashing-lights. Obey the Laws of the Land, traffic, etc, etc.
The part of that is bit worrying is that that sooner or later the adding of # ends
.......and then...... things start to get interesting, in a 'proof of God' type of way. LOL

there is no laws in the bible which advocate protecting children from abuse
Are you serious?? You, no matter how big you think you are are, don't know as much as you have led yourself to believe. God is the highest level I believe exists as in the pamphlet Re 21&22.

M't:18:3:
And said,
Verily I say unto you,
Except ye be converted, and become as little children,
ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Obviously if you post a verse that says God can/does intentionally abuse little children then I would have to re-evaluate my position on the matter.......... as it is I'm quite sure they are part of that all sins covered by grace, part of the blessed.

M't:5:8: Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

BTW how do you come up with stuff that is sooo far of the mark???

Your god allows kids to be abused. That sure shows condemnation of the act and a lot of love for the wee ones, doesn't it?
I can't see much difference between abusing kids and allowing them to be abused if one has the power available to stop it. If I were a god, I couldn't even bear the thought of allowing kids to starve or suffer from cancer and other things.
Perhaps the saying went not like"Suffer the little chidren to come unto me" but rather "Suffer, little children, and then come to me".

My question is if envy and pride are two of the seven deadly sins, isn't God sinning by commanding us to have no other Gods before him and expecting us to worship him every Sunday and even violating one of his own commandments?

And if God is so mighty, why is it necessary for us to continuously tell God this? Doesn't He already know? Or is He really mighty but actually pretty insecure and in constant need of reassurance?

Number two about craven images: what are those bleeding Jesus' doing in the churches, and the mother Mary statues, angels etc. Seems to me the church has been breaking rule 2 from the get go.

This is the main reason I choose not to believe any of this holy stuff. From what I have seen those in control of the god phone break most if not all of the rules they expect the rest of us to follow. SO it stands to reason that if in fact there is a god he/she is not much good at enforcing the rules even on the believers. At the very least those who do not believe cannot be called hypocrites. This is even ignoring the not so small fact that all the believers can't even agree on which one of them has the real god and which are fakes.

God was made in the image of a king...a human king.

Yeah. Like hubby said in the OP:

Quote:
TWO: 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.'
"No art? How tedious."

never ceases to amaze me how much interest athiest show in something they don't believe in.

Personally, I don't believe in ghosts, therefore, I have no interest whatsoever in watching "documentary's" on ghosts, or reading books about "ghosts", or having discussions about "ghosts" with those that do believe in them.

Seriously? You mean you don't join organizations devoted to telling people there aren't ghosts? To distributing anti-ghost literature to inmates, to universities? You don't tattoo your body in 'there are no ghosts' symbols? How odd.

You never know, Gerry. This atheist may one day find a believer that can supply proof of some deity's existence. And sometimes you have to push someone to get info out of them.

It never ceases to impress me (negatively) as to how far some people will go to get others to believe in deities, either.

I'm not interested in ghosts either, BTW. lol
Leprachauns, maybe.
Easter bunny, definitely. I love chocolate and Easter eggs.

Now... to be fair... the reason I know that atheist organizations sell their point of view in exactly the same way that the religious sell theirs, is because someone encouraged me to look into their organization, and that's the exact same reason that atheists concern themselves with what the religious are selling. So, we all bandy it back and forth. Round and round the world goes.
