of course cannuck, because cops never make mistakes or doing anything wrong, or lie.
It still comes down to the fact that the cop arrested him because he got mouthy.
it was a bogus charge that the DA even threw out when it got to him.
The Cambridge mayor got in on the case as well: she admitted there was no valid basis for arresting Gates.

''Obama backed the wrong horse''
Then why did the cops drop all charges?
Hint: because they new that pressing charges under false pretenses would have led to a massive reward for Gates in a lawsuit.
What this situation has taught me:
I don't have the right to get angry at someone for disturbing me in my home in the middle of the night.
Sgt. Crowley responded and asked Gates to step outside and provide ID to ensure that it was indeed Gates's house.
It was there on the porch and in front of witnesses that Gates screamed at Crowley calling him a racist and bigot and yelled that Crowley was violating his rights. Gates was being uncooperative and was arrested.

b. Offensive language. A person is guilty of a petty disorderly persons offense if, in a public place, and with purpose to offend the sensibilities of a hearer or in reckless disregard of the probability of so doing, he addresses unreasonably loud and offensively coarse or abusive language, given the circumstances of the person present and the setting of the utterance, to any person present.
So, I am in my house when somebody shows up and demands I step outside. I get angry and yell. I get arrested for being rude.
So, I apparently I got it right the first:
No...you're just a PC guy or gal.
Again...Gates's house had been recently broken into...a man was seen barging in the door...a concerned citizen dialed 911...Crowley asked for ID...Gates called him a racist and was screaming at him and grandstanding and refused to show ID.
What should have happened.
Crowley- "Do you have an ID proving you are Mr. Gates"
Gates- "Yes...here you go."
Crowley- "Thank you...have a good day"
But NOOOOOO. Gates the elitist racist decides to be a jerk and racially profile the officer.
In case you are unaware of what disorderly conduct means when according to Crowley, Gates was non violent:
The police report and Gates statement both say that when Gates was asked for ID he proceeded into the kitchen where his wallet was. Crowley followed him and Gates produced the ID, 2 pieces, in the Kitchen. Gates then asked Crowley for ID and badge number which Crowley ignored and then walked back out of the house. Gates followed continueing to ask for ID and was still ignored. On the porch, while Crowley was in the front yard, Gates went off on him verbally.
Non violent doesn't mean he wasn't disorderly. A drunk can be non violent and go peacefully.
Gates's was wrong and now must sit quietly in the presence of Sgt. Crowley as he sips a beer on the White House lawn. A far cry from what he did on his porch two weeks ago. Gates's will be on his best behavoir and I hope Crowley has a big grin for him to see.
Near as I can tell all this proves is that you don't have to be white to be a racist.
While I am fortunate to live in a no crime neighbourhood I know that I would want the cops to check on suspicious activity around my house.
