There is already a thread called The Devil. Could this be merged with it so as not to confuse my old and feeble mind?

I raised goats, they cannot be shod and in particular not with anything resembling a horse shoe. Goats are devilish little creatures but the myth of Satan being a goat comes from the Christians trying demonize the ancient Greek myth of the god Pan. Pan was an interesting character who like having sex with anything that would stand (or lie) still. especially nubile young human females. That is why the uptight, sexually repressed Christians demonized him. I thought he was pretty cool myself. He is often portrayed in ancient Greek art as having a rather large erection.

A bum wrap? What's that, a soft terrycloth towel you can wrap around your bum after a shower? Brilliant typo Cliffy, I love it, it takes a smart person to make the most entertaining mistakes.

Now, a bum rap, perhaps... yes, I think he did. He comes off a lot better than god in Genesis, he told the truth, god didn't. God told Adam and Eve that on the day they ate the fruit of a particular tree, they'd die. The devil--assuming the serpent in that tale is the devil--said they wouldn't. And guess who was right...

And didn't those guys live to be like hundreds of years old? The devil never promised to torture any one for eternity, never asked any body to bow down and kiss his heiny.

Christianity is full of demons. There are none in my world.

Mine either. Even the original Wihtikow (the real word for Windigo) was only something to scare kids with.
But it did represent part of a person's character.
