Is there really a Hell? God only said that to eat from the tree of "Knowledge and Evil" was death, not "eternal life" in any fiery place.

"If Hell is real, why wasn't Cain warned about it, or Sodom and Gomorrah , or any of those who committed the earliest recorded "sins?"
If Hell is real why didn't Moses warn about this fate in the Ten Commandments or the Mosaic Covenant consisting of over 600 laws, ordinances, and warnings? The Mosaic Law simply stated blessings and cursings in this lifetime.
If Hell is real, why are its roots in paganism, rather than the Bible? Many nations surrounding Israel in the Old Testament believed in Hell-like punishment in the afterlife, for they served bloodthirsty and evil "gods," while Israel simply taught the grave (sheol) and a hope of a resurrection. If Hell is real, why was the revelation of it first given to pagan nations, instead of God's covenant people? Did God expect Israel to learn about the afterlife from the Pagan Gentiles? If so, why did He repeatedly warn Israel to not learn of their ways?
If Hell is real, why did God tell the Jews that burning their children alive in the fire to the false god Molech, (in the valley of Gehenna ) was so detestable to Him? God said that such a thing "never even entered His mind" (Jer. 32:35). How could God say such a thing to Israel , if He has plans to burn alive a good majority of His own creation in a spiritual and eternal Gehenna of His own making?"

Seems some created Hell from Pagan beliefs in order to scare and control their people.

The priest was preparing a dying man for his voyage into the great beyond. Whispering firmly, the priest said, "Denounce the devil! Let him know how little you think of his evil!" The dying man said nothing. The priest repeated his order. Still the dying man said nothing. The priest asked, "Why do you refuse to denounce the devil and his evil?" The dying man said, "Until I know where I'm heading, I don't think I ought to aggravate anybody."

Depends who's book you believe, supposedly the Devil is still out there tempting man. Neither won a clear cut victory like us.

You are probably right, ironsides. Neither of them won, they are still fighting and using men (and women of course) as pawns. I doubt if either one cares about humans, both of them care about winning and they use humans as and when it suits them (as Satan used Eve).

"No one whose testicles are crushed or whose male organ is cut off shall enter the assembly of the Lord"

Durka I know you wrote that in jest but it is really true in one sense. What is the single most important qualification that a person needs to be a Catholic Priest? It is that the person must have a penis. No penis (i.e. a woman), no priesthood.

Those who have the Spirit of Christ within them, will not be deceived. He will lead us into righteousness and He will cause us to depart from the Evil One.

When we follow the Word of God, the Holy Spirit enables us to depart from evil. Please go to worship.com and click on Chris Tomlin, and see how Christians worship their Lord.

We are not talking about those who have a form of religion, but, those who have a real born again experience with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Christians worship God in many different ways, herald. Thus Mother Teresa worshiped her God by helping the poor, the diseased, the disadvantaged.

We don’t need this Chris Tomlin character to tell us how Christians worship their God. They do it in many different ways. Some may worship God by feeding the hungry, others may worship God by persecuting gays.

Probably not, the OT god seems more interested in causing physical torment than mental anguish. I wonder if a vasectomy counts as "wounded in the stones." :-?

Now that my stones are in a knot , I forgot what the thread is about.

Oh ya! The Devil. Compared to his nemesis, he seems like a more congenial fellow. He isn't the one who is going to fry our asses like the Big G. He actually tried to help us by giving us the insight into good and evil. I think that the roles were reversed by the clergy. The Big G is the bad guy. He is the one that tried to keep us in the dark, after all, and then got PO'd, threw a hairy fit and condemned us with original sin for all time. Not a nice guy. I think the Devil got a really bad rap.

You might be making alliances that you'll be held to Cliffy.

St. Faustina's vision of Hell
Dante had similar visions in Inferno

Make no doubt about who would be responsible. It is your choice.

Careful. ;-)

And some do both. Mother Teresa was first and formost a devout and orthodox Catholic, who was outspoken in her condemnation of homosexuality, abortion, promiscuity, while at the same time ministering and nursing to those who were afflicted by them.
