It seems to be difficult to get a simple concept through people's thick skulls.

Yes there is JLM and you seem to be determined to do it.

We are talking two standards here, one for the courts in convicting a person and another entirely to be used in making decisions in our own personal lives.

No I think YOU are talking two standards here..

I don't give a rat's ass if I can prove he's a kiddy diddler- in my mind he is, so if there was a decision to made to let my grandkids sleep with him the answer is NO- but it's a mute point now.

Did it ever occur to you that the parents were as guilty for putting their children in any danger or were they really intent on getting even when something went wrong.. Who just leaves their child with a stranger, even a superstar ?

It's a strange, strange world when talent trumps common decency.

Why does his talent have anything to do with what his private life was like. A song is a song and should not reflect the artist that wrote its private life.

Stories told of the Rolling Stones ( amongst so many others ) just ripping apart 14 and 16 year old girls seem to make all men envious yet in a 20 some year career Micheal Jackson was accused TWICE and NEVER found guilty in very odd circumstances.

Besides Micheal fathered 3 children, which none of the mothers ever claimed he abused.

Yes he was not a GREAT role model by dangling his 3rd child from a hotel balcony but he was dealt with by the law and moved on in life.

(Funny we haven't heard a peep out of S,J. in all this, it would have been a good opportunity for him to demonstrate his tolerance) I know you are peeking S,J.

Perhaps SJP was not a fan, who cares.. Must he be your only source of information ?

Let's be clear that Michael Jackson was not a great off stage role model but I do believe he was manipulated by many people to get as much money out of him as possible. He had no sense of money value and no sense of life direction.

Oh an what about all the free time he donated for Charities and free concerts like We are the World ?

Have you ever heard of an "idiot savant"?

I have. About the time I got my masters in pscyh, they dropped the "idiot" part. Not politically correct. Also, they changed "retarded" to "mentally challenged." Crazy became "psychotic" or "mentally unstable." Instead of using disabled, it became "challenged" - how silly. Handicapped? "Physically challenged." They dropped the "deaf" from deaf and dumb. Remember that?

Wasn't "Deaf and Dumb" two separate inflictions? The inability to hear and the inability to speak.

We Americans, women, mothers, or whatever label you want to use for me, didn't think of Michael Jackson's past deeds or even his talent. The first thing we thought of was his children. I was shocked, although I am not strictly of his generation. But I thought of how very sad it was for the children. And the comment heard on TV that he was worth more dead than alive - well, that was cruel.

Doesn't this event remind you of someone? Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Anna Nicole Smith, Heath Ledger...?

First, I heard very little about his kids, so much for your first comment. Second, it is true that he will be worth more now. His records were flying off the shelves, and before he was near bankrupt. It happens a lot when someone dies. Third, it doesn't remind me of any of the ones you listed except Elvis. Never heard of Ledger...

Yes it is very silly how the connotation of words can be offensive while the meaning isn't. The most notorious I guess is the "N" word and yet all it is, is a bastardization of the word in Spanish for black and yet "black" is perfectly acceptable, "retarded" is very politically incorrect, yet means exactly the same as mentally challenged in a much neater compact form. People should get over this sort of nonsense.

Even the Simpsons last night had a tribute to Michael Jackson.

Good Heavens.

And what's up with this combination hero worship of MJ and PET? That's really scary.

It looks like Michael Jackson just got tired. He owed as much, if not more, money than he could reasonably expect to make over the next year. There was no escape that he could see. I read Michael Jackson's death as a suicide. He told people he wanted to die and he did.

Oi vey! He was just an entertainer.

When this much emotion goes out for one a dead entertainer who played a role created for him and around him that the real person is lost in a fog of lore and image it shows how deeply the marketing effected so many.

Are you mourning the commercial role, lore, image of Michael Jackson or Michael Jackson the man?

Are you ready for the onslaught of greed and marketing that will arise from this? Of all this role, lore, image that made many people rich it perturbs me to know what will come next.

Will you go see the movie of his life and buy the Michael Jackson Happy Meal?
