Eaglesmack: Do tell. Exactly how is this any different from any corrupt Republican getting caught? It is not about kickbacks. They all do that. It is just about getting caught.
You could live in a repressive state like California where they think they can vote to take away peoples rights.

That's how business is done up here. The BC provincial government is so corrupt that it looks more like a crime syndicate. The US from anything I have been able to deduce is the same.

I suspect there will be repercussions because the first and most important rule was broken, don't get caught.
Corrupt? Funny, I coulda swore we got rid of Clark. *scratches head*

There is all kinds of talk about Republicans and how bad they are on here.

However...corruption and fraud are normal behavoir among Massachusetts Democrat/Liberal politicians. We have a one party state...the GOP is pretty much non-existent here.

The last three of the Mass Speakers of the House have been indicted for fraud and corruption on three separate occassions. Two plead guilty...Dimasi is just the latest.

Flaherty, Finneran... and now Dimasi... Democrats all.

EagleSmack, I do not blame you, personally.

But tell me, why your fellow citizens in Massachusetts keep on voting for archeological fossils like Ted Kennedy and John Kerry for the Senate?

Not to mention the rubble you guys vote in to the House every two years?

You cannot blame me personally because I am one of the guys who votes against them...if anyone even runs against them.

I do vote for Steve Lynch though... my Democrat Congressman and he is not so Liberal.

But right down to the state level and local level...the state is flooded with corruption. Bribes, nepotism on an unheard of scale. A State Rep can't hire a relative so what they do is hire other State Reps relatives, spouses, brothers, sisters, etc. and in turn they hire some other Reps relative. All our State Reps do is feather their nests and steal. Late night pay raises, putting petitions for change to "committee" meaning ignoring them so they don't have to put them to ballot.

Oh Brother! You have no idea.

Perhaps you have heard of Jimmy "Whitey" Bulger? He is on the FBI's Most Wanted list. He was the head of the Irish Mob in Boston until he went on the lam in the 90's. They haven't caught up to him yet. Well his brother Billy Bulger was ALSO the Speaker of the House and has the highest state pension in Mass history. I think it is $600K a year and if there is more money to be had he goes and gets it to boost his pension. His other brother was indicted and did jail time for lying to the Feds on the night they got the last phone call from Whitey when the arrest warrant went out. Of course he was tipped off by an FBI Agent who is in jail for covering for the Irish Mob.

EagelSmack, surely there must be a few good guys in Massachusetts. Aren’t there any Republican Congressmen, members of the Mass. Senate, House who are Republicans? Surely they are the good guys (Democrats are the villains, of course)?

EagelSmack, I admire Massachusetts at least in one respect (I know very little about the state, except that it is a liberal state). Massachusetts was the first state in USA to legalize gay marriage. And unlike California, they did not reverse themselves; it has been legal there for years now.

Very few...maybe a handful...hardly a threat at all so liberalism runs rampant along with corruption and nepotism.

For the most part all of the villians are all Democrats because there aren't many Republicans at all.

Mass House of Representatives

Democrats- 143
Republicans- 16

That explains a lot.

I didn’t know it was that one sided. Massachusetts seems almost like a one party state. They do elect Republican governors from time to time though. There was Norm Weld, then there was Romney. There may have been others before that.

But I assume Republicans have to be moderates to get elected in Massachusetts. Indeed, I think both Weld and Romney were liberals (Romney changed to conservative positions after he decided to run for President).

Can the Canadian company get in trouble?

Probably if they were accepting US dollars...your money is going down faster than a hookers knickers on a Friday night.

Seriously though, we have an extradition treaty with the US so if you commit a crime in the States, you can be sent south for prosecution. I don't know about the company itself.

Almost a one party state? It IS a one party state. Romney and Weld were outsiders and Romney was always conservative. However the disproportion of state reps in the democrat party makes the govenor more like a figure head. Even our current governor is a fighure head. The real power is with the Speaker of the House. If the governor wants anything done he has to answer to the Speaker. If anyone stands up to the speaker they get it rammed where the sun doesn't shine.

Billy Bulger kept Billy Weld (our first GOP Gov in years) completely in check as well as the house.

But that is what we get here in Mass corrupt liberal speakers of the house...one after the other.

Nothing more need to be said about Massachusetts than the mindless re-election of the two most despicable low-lifes in American history: The Chappaqudick swimming champion, Ted Kennedy and the winner of Purple Heart for self-indicted wounds, John, the gigolo Kerry.

Teddy K. and Chappaqudick. Hey...he had a political career to look out for. He had to get home and sober up before he called the police the next morning to let them know that he went off the bridge with a young blonde...who is still in the car. The Kennedy machine was already in high gear before the police were brought in. A slap on the wrist for a drunk driven, leaving the scene of an accident, and a fatality. Tough luck Mary Jo!

Kerry's wounds although not self inflicted were mere scratches. But he needed those 3 purple hearts to get out of Vietnam and back to the ladies and Daddy's money.

Uh, yuh. You could say that alright.
Sound like this neck of the woods and the commu ... er Dippers (NDP)... a wee bit of a overwhelming abundance.

The difference being that a Dem in the states is about on par with conservatives here while repubs are right wing nuts that make Harper look smart. They don't have much that comes close to dippers except the odd union leader that isn't Mafia connected. Probably because all the socialists from England could only get into commonwealth countries while those that worked went to the US.
