Canucks got one point tonight, 5-5 tie going into overtime with the ducks, then
went into shoot out, we looked lame.
So now we are tied with Calgary, but they get first in division as they have one
more win than we do.
Wierd game for two teams who are playing at the top of their games, lots of goals, goalies looked too loose, but we got a point so all is not lost.

Next game on sat. in edmonton

GO CANUCKS GO

It lacked the intensity one would expect at this time of the year. Yes a very loosely played game with mediocre goaltending at best. I think it's typical for teams to return from successful hardfought roadtrips then lose the edge needed to keep it going.

Canucks and Anaheim are two of the top teams in the nhl, 'at this moment',
since the trade deadline.
playing the best hockey recently, but you'd never know it from this game,
but it is kind of funny, because the last time we played them, it was similar,
6-6 tie, and we won it in a shoot out, after the 26th shooter, 13 each.
Ohlund scored.

That game was a big letdown after the 2nd period. They showed character at first overcoming the 2 goal deficit but they lacked character WHERE IT REALLY COUNTED giving up the 2 goal lead. They are just not quite where they have to be yet to win the cup- honestly- the best they can hope for now is to be matched up with worse screwups than they are. I was very disappointed in Luongo- but I suppose "every dog has his bad days".

They just finished a long 6 game road trip, I thought they might not be able
to handle anaheim at all, but they did have lots of jump, stayed with anaheim, and both teams were a little loose.
I'm not making a generalized opinion on the team from this one game, as
their record is good and quite consistent. Teams can't perform the way we
want all the time. I watch most of the nhl, and there aren't any teams that
play at a high and winning level night in and night out.
Luongo has been playing at an awsome level for a while now, after struggling
to get back to his 'best', but last night he slipped a little, no big disaster.
When I watch games I watch 'both' teams, not just my own, and anaheim
played a very similar game to ours, it was quite entertaining actually, just
not the outcome we wanted, or the high level of play we desire.

Taylor Pyatt's fiance was 'killed' while on vacation in Jamaica, in a car crash.

He is flying back east as we speak, and won't be with the team in Edmonton
on Saturday.

Very sad.

That is very sad. Of course you are right about the Canucks and Anaheim, I was just a little frustrated- happens to old codgers like me.

I'll have to watch for that when I become an old codger.:lol::lol:

Yep, you sure better. Hey, Calgary just got shellacked 4/0 by the Wild- every bit as good news as a Canuck win- I guess I'm a bit of "a dog in a manger"- but hey, that's us obnoxious old codgers for you.:lol:

Very sad indeed. Vancouver has had it's share of tragedy the past couple of years.(Luc Bourdon last year):-(

With that loss, they fall to 5th. Chicago won tonight, so they climb back to fourth. With Calgary losing, Vancouver goes back to 3rd(since they now lead the division as the "game in hand" is gone now).

Yes, I watched that game, calgary is so depleted, regier, acoin, and sarrich
are out, they had two minor leagers playing their first nhl games.
Minnesota looked determined, and their goalie played awsome, they are
still hanging on.

Calgary have played one more game than us now, and yes, we are in 3rd.

Pyatt's fiance was in a 'taxi' with 5 other people, (including her mother), the car
hit a power pole, then flipped over, she was the only one killed.
I wonder about seat belts in that country, and the quality of the taxi drivers.

I don't know what it's like in Jamaica but in the US Virgin Islands there aren't many rules on the road, and where there are rules they don't make much sense anyway.

Having seen some of the local taxi drivers drive around like maniacs, I don't think that the quality of the drivers is a Jamaica-only problem.8O

Yeah, you're right, but I wonder about 'seat belts' in that country, at least it
would have stopped all the people from being thrown all over, inside the car.

That is true. However, until we hear more information about this we'll never know for certain the reason behind the crash.

Just chatted with my daughter re: Jamaica driving. She said that as soon as
one is 'off' the big highways, and on smaller roads, (and they are small), she
said the driving is unreal, the group she was with made the van driver stop, as
they were all so nervous, as a result of his driving. She said they speed, pass
by each other very close, they are hollering and honking all the time, just
honking signals and hollering conversation with other drivers.
She said she would rather ride on a roller coaster.
She nodded as soon as I told her about the accident, and said it is 'wild' on
roads there.
