So finally, one thing very Canadian will be manufactured in our home country. Our own flags were being made in China. How sad is that? We have ferries in BC that were built in Germany! How sad is that?

TORONTO - Ontario and Canadian flags purchased for politicians must now be made in Canada and preferably in the province.
Speaker Steve Peters issued a directive Friday stating all Ontario and Canadian flags bought for members of the provincial legislature must manufactured in Ontario.
Failing that, they must be made in Canada, he said.
The opposition parties were in an uproar last week after learning that the government's procurement office was buying Ontario flags from China.
Members of the legislature each have a $1,000 annual budget for Ontario lapel pins and flags, which they order through the procurement office, as they do with most office supplies.
But Peters has made a "small step" in the right direction, said NDP critic Peter Kormos.
"Everything at the Legislative Assembly should be an example of what can be grown, produced or manufactured in the province of Ontario," he said Friday.
The flags cost $13 each when bought from the Chinese company, about $5 cheaper than Ontario-made flags.
