Thanks for the link. I listened to it for a second time since I actually listened to it last weekend and it's ok I guess, the chorus is catchy. Dance music is really hit or miss with me though. For example, I really like "Just Dance" by Lady Gaga, but I can't stand any of her other stuff.
What I especially wanted to know was if I could enjoy the studio version of his song this week or if it was as OTT as the live performance. I went on a shopping spree this morning and you know what, I really like his song. His vocals are mostly enjoyable and he really makes the song work (and I can actually understand the words, contrary to MJ's version).
I also bought Alexis' and Matt's songs. I like them both. I really like the energy that Alexis brought to the song. Matt's song is a bit on the cheesy side and there's still a bit too much falsetto, but it's good. And I have to admit that I got used to the cheesy keyboards on Kris' and Danny's songs. I just try to concentrate on their voices and it works. I love both their voices. You know, if you had told me a few weeks ago that I would buy 5 of the 13 songs from this week, I wouldn't have believed you, so I guess it's a good sign for the rest of the season!
I mostly really liked it, though as I think you said it sounds a bit...well, you didn't say "generic rock album," but that is how I would put it, myself. Just a bit, though. Still, for an "Idol" album, it's really very good. But I have yet to actually get the chance to give it a good listen. He's a great singer.
Oh, I think I did use the term generic when describing his album, because that's exactly what I think. Not as generic as Nickelback let's say, but still. It's weird because when I first bought it, I wasn't as enthusiastic about it as most of his fans. But now, most of the songs really grew on me and I can't get tired of his voice. A lot of his fans (well, the ones I "see" on the forums) treat his music (and him) as if it was the best thing since sliced bread, but I'm more realistic. I think it's a solid album and I just hope that he has the chance to make several more to really show what he his capable of.
Get out your cowboy hats, folks. The first person I think about re country week is Adam. He will probably do just great. Being in theatre has probably helped him be adaptable to different genres. But I'm wondering what he's going to sing. Stand By Your Man? lol His usual look won't cut it, either. Yet anything too cowboy and you're talking Village People.
I think what will be interesting will be to see if some of them can make the song their own, as cliché as that sounds. I don't want them to come out with the cowboy boots and the hat, I want them to take a country song and do it in their respective style. I'm asking for a lot, am I? I hope I'll be surprised.
I'm a bit worried the save could be used for Anoop or another wild card contestant, which would really be a case of the judges forcing somebody on the populace, methinks.
I'm not sure the judges like Anoop that much. They just know that he's really popular for some reason. But I could totally be wrong. The most valid prediction that I saw would be that they could use it on Lil. I guess it would be a possibility for people to get tired of her (since she doesn't bring anything new, in my opinion of course, but it seems to be a popular opinion) before the top 5, so that they could use the "save" to save her. We'll see.
I've smiled as Kris gets a bit more popular on the forums. He may even end up being the "safe" choice between Adam and Danny, at some point.
He's definitely a dark horse -- hope he can hang on. What is this "404 Server Not Found" joke at his expense? Grrr...
Yeah, I didn't read that many opinions about the show, only a couple of pages from the episode thread on TWoP (and Slezak's favorable opinion of course), but I got that people seemed to like him. I still think it's because he brings something a bit different than a lot of the others. Not to mention that he's a very likeable guy and he brings the pretty. Should he have kept his wife a secret? I hope not, but I was a teenage girl not that long ago... Was it on TWoP that you saw that he was gaining in popularity or elsewhere? I also hope he can hang on for a while because he's the one from that bunch that I would most see myself buying music from.
On the TV Guide website today, they had a poll asking people who their favorite from the top 11 is and you know, with all the Danny "hate" that I've read on TWoP, I was almost surprised to see that he was leading with 33% of the 2000 votes that had been casted when I checked. Adam was second with 24%. The others were all left in the dust way behind (I think Lil was third with 9%). The fact is, I can't imagine Danny winning. It would probably be like Taylor Hicks 2.0, because he's not really marketable I think. As much as I like his voice, I don't really see where he would fit in the music business. Anyway, it's still really early in the competition and David Archuleta was probably leading these kind of polls at this point last season.
(Well, after writing that post, I went back to check on the poll, which has now 4500 votes and now Adam is in the lead with 30%, then Anoop with 26% and Danny at 22%. Lil is down at 5% and the others are at 1% or 3%. Anoop really? He's not even really good. Likeable, yes, but I need more than that, he hasn't been that impressive yet. Well, I think it's the kind of poll that people can vote for many times, so it might not mean anything at all!)
