It's truely asobering enterprise teaching American History to an American.

That was all you could come up with. Too easy.

It is a shame you only learned from Canadian revisionists and we all know there is a lot of them.

Sucks to be irrelevant doesn't it?

Fortunately I learned my history in Canada after 9 fruitless yrs of gibberish in Massachussetts

The one good thing Obama has done is given the executive order to shut down the Bush/Cheney honneymoon torture chamber at Gitmo.

That will gain a "smidgen" of positive international attention to see that the US no longer advocates torture. Still a Loooong way to go to repair the Bush damage though

Nice try? It was a fact and it was LBJ who championed Civil Rights more than JFK. A leopard can't change his spots and it was the Democrats that ran apartied in the South. You can't say it was only in name because it wasn't. It was the Southern Democrats that got JFK elected. Support from those RACIST Democrat Governors.

Eisenhower was a Republican and he sent the troops in after a Democrat Governor called in the Arkansa Natl Guard to keep the young black students out.

How quick you forget the Chicago Democrat National Convention in 1968. The riots made worse by Democrat Mayor Daly...

"THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING!"

So nice try.

In an "Actual Nice Try"..

The parties were parties in name only. After that event the Southern Democrats became Southern Republicans.

Democrat Strom Thurmond became Republican Strom Thurmond.

The south should really be coined "Dixiecrat" cause they were very much like Quebec in Canada, they just voted AGAINST whichever party did the most disservice to their racist institutions. (note: In that Quebec uses strategic support of other parties, not that its full of racist institutions)

They destroyed the Whig Party because it put a candidate who opposed expanding Slavery into the Territories.

It opposed the Republicans for along time because of well, Lincoln.

Then when the Democrats gave their go ahead to the Civil Rights movement they decided to go republican.

The south just voted against people for years and year, to blame either the Republicans, Whigs or Democrats for the south's policies are disingenuous at best.

The south were Dixiecrats, they just put on whatever hat best suited their needs.

It's kinda like Chia Pets or Sea Monkeys. Absolutely usless, but fascinating in it's own warped way

I never considered my diciples as chia pets but you can be the first. Good idea although I would never have suggested that about myself.

I'm surprised you have Chia pets or Sea Monkeys (that lived) in West Boston?

West Boston? Where the heck is West Boston? There is not one part of Boston known as West Boston.

I never had a chia pet or sea monkey until you offered yourself to be my on line chia pet/sea monkey.

More like the Hillary Clinton (Dem NY Senator) gang of New York Democrats and her friends at the New Yorker a month before the Democrat National Convention.

Eagle you are a tease getting people riled up

If I repeat those who have already correct the isse - I am sorry - I was just now able to re-sign on to this forum.

Roberts muddled up the Oath and it threw Obama off - Obama tried to repeat it the correct way - but Roberts overrode and corrected it himself.

They took another Oath yesterday to correct the error - but the press weren't invited so that threw another scream fest into the works...

I hope next week Obama's day at the office goes well.

I didn't vote for him but his speech was amazing. I hope we can measure up to his hopes and dreams. It's up to him.

On Tuesday, Chief Justice John Roberts joined the Flubber Hall of Fame when he administered the presidential oath of office apparently without notes. Instead of having Barack Obama “solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of president of the United States,” Chief Justice Roberts had him “solemnly swear that I will execute the office of president to the United States faithfully.” When Mr. Obama paused after “execute,” the chief justice prompted him to continue with “faithfully the office of president of the United States.” (To ensure that the president was properly sworn in, the chief justice re-administered the oath Wednesday evening.)

How could a famous stickler for grammar have bungled that 35-word passage, among the best-known words in the Constitution? Conspiracy theorists and connoisseurs of Freudian slips have surmised that it was unconscious retaliation for Senator Obama’s vote against the chief justice’s confirmation in 2005. But a simpler explanation is that the wayward adverb in the passage is blowback from Chief Justice Roberts’s habit of grammatical niggling.
