lol I went through a winter in Red Earth which is a smidgeon north of Edmonton. Try -60F with a wind chill factor off the lake bringing it down to about -121C. (Gawd Centigrade scale makes things look horrid at low temps. The corresponding numbers are about -50F and about -85F)

Man is it ever freakin snowing right now.
Yes it is and I just heard on the radio that almost everything in town is closed! My store won't be but maybe we'll just stand around for the most part. After the mobs yesterday I might not mind. Thankfully, my husband is back from Vancouver (ferries are running great) and he is out shovelling the driveway. It has warmed up though. Canucks lost but he says it was still a great game. Two hours and I have to go to work. I really wonder how many people will brave this weather. I was up at 3:00 A.M. and not much at all was happening. This came as quite a surprize.

Juan....

Big snow for the kids to play in is not the worst of winter weather situations.

Right now we're not getting snow. Instead we're hovering around the -30 mark, last night it dropped all the way to -35. Edmonton (and my kids) would gladly switch with you if you like.

Thats a good plan Karrie.
Start your fireplace and I'll be right there.
While your kids are here they can shovel the driveway. I've shoveled it four times in the last week and at 69 I don't shovel snow nearly as enthusiastically as I once did.;-)

It's quite comfortable outside right now, snowing very lightly, just shovelled the
sidewalk/edge of driveway area, my husband still isn't allowed to do any sort of
shovelling or other heavy stuff.
Many many birds feeding on my patio, I just spread the seed all over the place, as
we have a rug on the concrete, and patio is covered, so they can come in there,
and enjoy.
They show up from everywhere, many will die now, as they just can't get to food
under all of that snow.
Just looked out, and it's actually stopped snowing at the moment, taking a breather I guess.

my daughter in ucluelet said that they had a small snowfall last night, wet, and
this morning it is raining, with some wet snow once in a while, ucluelet is a
sloppy mess she said.
That's just around the corner for us, the more snow we get the messier it will
be when the rain starts.
Hope it starts on boxing day.;-)

I've shoveled somethere between 7 and 8" of the stuff today- thank God it's very dry and light to handle. (Spent a lot of wet days in my time working at Port Albion) LOL

Yes. I keep asking Talloola if she is too but maybe I'm not understanding the answer. Talloola, is "moving into town" moving to Nanaimo or Courtenay? I assume you mean Courtenay. At any rate, we are probably all getting much the same weather - more snow. Heard we are getting another 10 - 15 cm tonight and from what I read on the weather report that's probably true. They report flurriers all night long. What a mess out there. Off and on busy at the store today and then by supper time - mostly dead. Since everyone in town bought so many groceries yesterday they shouldn't need any for at least two weeks anyway.

So you're an Edmontonite, Karrie (you're welcome to the weather.......LOL) My son worked for years up around High Level and Zama- gets a little nippy at times up there.

Yeah, I lived in High Level for a few years. A little nippy indeed. I traveled home at about -55C one year for a funeral. There were colder days, but that stands out in my mind.

Oh, don't count on not having to shovel at all here. I have to go do the walks this morning. We're not getting a lot of snow, but we're getting some.

There is not much in Port Albion.
A couple of unloading stations and the village.
It is right across the harbour from Uccy .
WE unloaded at Bornsteins over there a couple of times,
right across from the whiskey dock.

I lived in Edmonton for 8 or 9 years. One of my strongest memories is having my car quit on Jasper avenue and having to walk 10 blocks in minus 30F temperatures against a thirty mph wind. I had just come out from Vancouver and was not really dressed for an Edmonton Winter. I don't think I've been as cold before or since.
