I may be wrong, but didn't Schwarzenegger approve same-sex marriage?:?:

That might very well have been phase #1 in a secret "Con" conspiracy, so that the "Con's"
could later somehow take it away again. Those "Con's" are sneaky that way....You better
watch out for the "Con's" 'cuz they're everywhere.

They must secretly be pretending to be Democrat's in California. Not only is that hypocritical,
it's downright diabolical! Beware of the "Con's!!!" They're everywhere, & they're sneaky!!!

Schwarzenegger is a Republican.

Really? My mistake. He's pretty Liberal. My bad.

Avro, sorry if I'm being so cynical. You finally just got under my skin. At this time,
I (and many others) happen to be the "Con's" you feel are at fault for all the evils in
the world....and you paint with a broad brush. I am neither a hypocrite, nor a coward.
I think I can safely assume that most of the other "Con's" that you feel you need to paint
with the same brush are neither hypocrites or cowards.

The way you paint is like saying, "All Natives get a free ride!" or "All Mexicans are lazy!"
or "All Chinese people are bad drivers!" or "All British have bad teeth!" You're using
birdshot where a slug would be appropriate. Sorry, carry on. "Con's" are ALL evil, and
cowards, and hypocrites.

West coast Republicans tend to be a little more progressive than their Southern counterparts.

Thank You for throwing me a line. I honestly thought he was a Democrat.

Not a prob. A lot of the policies he's championed certainly fit with the Democratic planks, definitely on the Federal stage. He ran on fixing the the fiscal imbalance in Sacrament. The state has for a long time been forward looking on the whole energy/climate issue too. The EPA gives California the right to set it's own standards, above those set by Washington DC, and then other States are free to follow the California regulations if they want.

Yep....he does make the whole Trucking industry nervous. Either the entire country
(& in turn the continent) will have to adopt California's emission standards, or he'll
create a whole new industry of California trucks that'll meet trailers in Oregon or the
other states bordering on California to shuttle loads on the last leg of every trip, or
the first leg of every trip.

Amen to that. The thing is the Christian conservatives have so taken over the party that people forget Republicans used to mean fiscally conservative, limited government, etc. not simply CHRISTIAN. Arnie is that kind of a Republican. I doubt his wife would have married him had he been the other kind.

Some areas of California are known for always voting Republican. When I go through Orange County, I see a lot of McCain bumper stickers.

Prop. 8 protesters target Mormon temple in Westwood

Gay-rights activists criticize the church for helping to collect millions to aid passage of ban on gay marriage.
By Jessica Garrison and Joanna Lin

November 7, 2008

More than a thousand gay-rights activists gathered Thursday afternoon outside the Mormon temple in Westwood to protest the role Mormons played in passing Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage in California.

It was the latest in an escalating campaign directed against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for its role in marshaling millions of dollars in contributions from its members for the successful campaign to take away same-sex marriage rights.

Members of the Mormon church, who were strongly urged by church leaders to contribute to the Proposition 8 campaign, had an undeniable role in the measure's victory. Opponents of Proposition 8 have accused the church of discriminating against homosexuals, but the backlash against the denomination has also sparked accusations of discrimination.

During the campaign, a website established by Proposition 8 opponents used campaign finance data and other public records to track Mormon political contributions to the Yes-on-8 campaign. Opponents estimated that members of the church had given more than $20 million, but the amount is difficult to confirm since the state does not track the religious affiliation of donors.

Nothing surprizes me about what Americans do. And its more often than not illegal.
