What do you drive?

I'd like to purchase a 1967 Chevrolet El Camino if anyone's got one in good shape. There are lots of the thinner 1970's models out there, but the 1967 version is real nice.

Ford F-350 super duty v8 powerstroke double cab diesel pickup truck. Wife has a smaller 4.7L Toyota Tundra.

Tell your wife to support an American car company instead of foreign nonsense.

I tried to tell her, but that's the truck she liked. There are many nice non-diesel smaller trucks out there. She could have had the Ford F-150, Dodge Dakota, Chevrolet Silverado ...etc). However, she hasn't had too many problems with the truck. Drives comfortably.

I don't believe in cars. They harm the environment and are a scourge to society. Instead, I constructed a sled made out of celery that can be pulled by old people. With any luck I'll get a patent, become a millionaire and save the environment all at the same time.

And you can damn-well have MY share of Tofu, and alfalfa sprouts!

(relax, I read your sarcasm...)

Gotta forest green '97 Toyota Tercel. A real gas sipper. A sweet ride, and the ladies love it. I wish it was a standard, though. Its 3-speed automatic. On the 401 doing 125 it screams like its going to blow up.

My wife drives the 'nice' car (of course) - a '99 Olds Intrigue. It's all right, but has a lot of the problems typical of the big 3.

No such thing anymore, they're all built all over the place. I have a 1993 Toyota Camry I bought in 1995, best car I've ever had, 170,000 km on it and no expenses but routine maintenance. Before that I had assorted Chrysler and GM products and they all started to nickle and dime me to death after about 100,000 km. Failed fuel pumps, door handles falling off, door and ignition locks wearing out, stupid stuff like that. A few years ago I bought a 2002 Toyota Echo as a second car, and it's a fabulous little machine, 100% reliable like the Camry, great fuel economy, and surprisingly big inside. After my experience with cars from Toyota, Honda, Chrysler, GM, and Ford over the last 40 years, Toyota's got them beat all to pieces. And most of them are built in this country. My priority is reliability, get me there and get me home, and the Toyotas are the only vehicles I've owned that have never stranded me.

I won't buy anything else. I watch the markets and I check the consumer reports, but I've yet to see anything that would suggest I should look seriously at anything but a Toyota.

MGB.... 77 and in rather good shape for her vintage. Looking to do some restoration on her.......a bit at a time.

red in color and as sweet ,sweet can be.

(shamefully biased

Ocean ... I'm drooling here! Post us a pic, will ya?

I used to have a '62 Austin Healy Sprite ... looked a lot like an MG with big round front fenders. Felt like Mata Hari driving around in it.

I also had a '69 Chevelle convertible. Nice car.

And I had a Harley.

But, *sigh*, these days I drive a '92 Ford F150. A gift from my Daddy-O when we moved out here. Thing is a damn tank. We're going to get rid of it and hope to get a little Mazda that will actually FIT on the streets of Victoria!

hi cosmos No success in posting it as a pic........but after resizing posted it as an avatar. Loses the detail of course. Man beside her..........is her mechanic./care taker. ( a terrific chap from Holland who used to be a racer..... and knows the likes of Schuemacker (sp) etc.

Will leave it as an avatar for a bit.......and then revert back to Halloween themes..;-)

thanks folks......... I feel really lucky to have her. And even more lucky to have an excellent guy to work on her. As maintaining her /parts etc can be a challenge. Fortunately there is Octagon Motors which caters to us MG buffs....and one can get any little part one needs. ( for a ...umm. price.... :?

What I would love to do is bring her up to better or near mint condition. (ouch....megabucks) and then do the MG drive along the sea to sky corridor. (highway 99 Vancr. To Whistler)

( IF--no...WHEN I win that lottery.......look out
