A citizen who barters with such a state shares in its corruption and lawlessness.
Every citizen is responsible for every act of their government.
There is only one sovereign remedy, namely, nonviolent non-cooperation.

The liberals just took 'nothing to see here folks' to an entirely different level today voting to take the committee behind closed doors next week. Not only will Canadians not be able to see they will not be able to hear now.

Midway through Florida vacation, Trudeau jets back to Ottawa for day of ‘private meetings’

Less than two days after taking the prime ministerial jet to Florida for his spring vacation, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau used it to quietly return to Ottawa for a day of ‘private meetings.’
Trudeau and his family are currently spending spring break in a house on North Captiva Island, a remote tourist destination off the coast of south west Florida.
Online flight tracking confirms that the prime minister’s jet, a Bombardier Challenger 604 with the call sign “Can Force One,” first touched down in Fort Myers, FL on Saturday afternoon.
After only two days in Florida, the jet then took to the air Monday night bound for Ottawa, before returning on Tuesday. The flights were first noticed by a Twitter user with the handle “@rerified.”
and you won't believe it but it's true, Justin left Ottawa Tuesday night and returned to Florida, so we updated the video to include the third flight segment...……..click for more

Questions remain about Harjit Sajjan’s $161,000 photo bill

Last month I had an article about taxpayers spending $161,000 for photographers to take images of Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan on his various trips. The Liberal government says these photographs are proof that Canada is re-engaging on the world stage.
The amount covers 26 trips since late 2015 to locations such as India, Trenton, Yellowknife, Brussels, Ukraine, Latvia, Iraq and Africa.
Sajjan’s spokeswoman, Renée Filiatrault, said in an email that such photographers are used by the military and the minister to support communicating with the public in Canada and abroad. She noted that the minister travels to international meetings and to various missions. “Our government promised to re-engage in the world and communicate openly with Canadians and we are doing just that,” she noted. Many of the images are used on Sajjan’s Twitter account (see above).
Postmedia asked for the cost figures after receiving emails from military personnel who noted what they considered excessive spending on photography for Sajjan’s social media accounts. Such international meetings also often have official photographers assigned to events to produce imagery for the participants.
The DND did not have figures available showing how much was spent on photography for previous defence ministers. But both Conservative and Liberal cabinet ministers have been questioned in the past about excessive amounts of tax dollars being spent on such photographs.
At the Feb. 28 Commons defence committee Conservative MP James Bezan tried to get answers on the spending. He wanted to know what was going to be spent in the upcoming budget on such photography, adding that he considered the images a “vanity” project for the defence minister.
But Jody Thomas, the Defence Department’s deputy minister, didn’t appear to have any issues with the department spending those tax dollars on what are commonly called “grip and grin” photos. “That money comes from CAF operations and it’s allocated,” she explained to MPs. “We have Combat Camera photographers who are sent on various missions. There’s no specific budget for the minister.”
But her answer was less than forthcoming. It made it sound like the military’s Combat Camera staff were already photographing missions and various events, so they were just conveniently on hand when Sajjan arrived for a visit. That is not the case. The $161,000 spent was specifically for the photographers who accompanied the minister on his trips to produce images of him. They were not assigned to specific military operations (for instance, there is no military mission in India where Sajjan visited and was photographed by military image technicians).
In addition, the money was for commercial travel and commercial accommodations for the photographers. Salaries were not accounted for as staff are serving in the Canadian Forces.
In addition, Sajjan used some of his office’s funds to finance some of this photography.
Of course, all of this – both at the DND level and from Sajjan’s office – comes from the pockets of taxpayers.

I would have been happy with a $20 dollar glass of Orange juice here instead

Well he had to take the time to make sure his troops were all lined up and given their marching orders, TM. Which to their everlasting shame they followed to the letter. They kicked the hearings to next week when they will resume behind closed doors and as reporters and Canadians who care, await the budget announcement. Pretty smart maneuvering. The budget is of importance as it is the last one prior to the election being called and is sure to contain millions of dollars in bribes.........oops goodies - in a last and hopefully futile attempt to ward off being completely decimated at the polls.

You make it sound as if he's the brains of the outfit.

I doubt that. Sone moth-eaten left-over from the Chretien years is probably calling the shots from his coffin after the sun sets every night.

Not at all - little potato is only there to deliver his lines in his inimitable dramatic fashion, CC. He too is but a puppet - now that Geppetto is gone I do wonder whose pulling his strings.

I have a feeling that if Chretien were ever able to tell us his real thoughts on this goof, we would find he too has little of any good to say about him.

He quietly took his entitlements if it wasn't for someone following and deciphering his tweets nobody would have known his carbon footprint on our dime

Reading the speculators (inside reporters) the target for this budget is at retirees getting better access to their RRSP's, I wonder when they will raise the min. income for seniors to be able to live a little more comfortably in retirement after decades of being the bulk of the taxpayers

Why didn’t Gen. Vance or Sajjan’s official search for Norman documents? Blame the Justice Dept. says DND

In late January during the pre-trial hearing for Vice Admiral Mark Norman the judge heard that despite a court order, Chief of the Defence Staff Gen. Jon Vance and Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan’s chief of staff Zita Astravas didn’t search their personal email and phone accounts for data related to the naval officer.

Norman’s legal team has been engaged in an ongoing quest to get records they argue could be essential to defending the naval officer on one count of breach of trust. That charge is related to allegations Norman leaked details about a Liberal government to derail a supply ship project that a Quebec shipyard was undertaking for the Royal Canadian Navy.

Attempts to get records from the Department of National Defence and federal government have met with mixed results.

The National Post’s Christie Blatchford wrote this Jan. 31 about the failure of Vance and Astravas to search their personal accounts as instructed:

Vance came to court with four banker’s boxes full of documents in response to a personal subpoena dated Dec. 18 of last year. But he testified that in response to an earlier defence subpoena served upon the department in October — it sought disclosure of all records, emails, text or BlackBerry messages in which the Norman matter was discussed — he didn’t search his personal phone or email address.

Similarly, when Astravas was asked the same questions in court, she too replied that she had never searched her personal phone or email for communications about Norman on the advice of DND.

She said she was “not certain” who in the department had advised her.

Yet justice lawyer Rob MacKinnon confirmed for the judge that when he gave advice to DND last December, “I made it clear the searches were to include” personal emails and phones.

So who at the DND advised Vance and Astravas about whether to search their personal phones or emails?

The DND has responded, naming the Department of Justice.

“The Department of Justice provides advice to the Department of National Defence on this matter,” the department pointed out in an email to Postmedia. “The provision of that legal advice is protected in the solicitor client relationship, but we can advise that the department has been fully compliant with its obligations under the subpoena and has addressed any inconsistencies in a timely way.”
“National Defence will continue to produce any outstanding documents and information requested for the third party application, including recent requests,” the department added.

Norman’s lawyers have questioned why it has taken the DND so long to produce even the most basic documents. In court they have argued that there have been attempts within DND to obstruct justice.
