I'd guess at that latitude (90 degrees) there will be heavy morning frost in about two weeks.

Even at 60°N there is two weeks left.

60°N was chosen as being the limits of potential grain crops hence 60°N being the border with the territories and Western Provinces.

You gotta figure, if every year they keep saying that "this is the summer there that the North Pole will be ice free", there's abound to be the chance they'll eventually be right sometime down the line. In the meantime, it helps to keep all the Chicken Littles nice and compliant with their eco-masters so that the greatest transfer of wealth in human history can take place.

I'm not sure that the North Pole being ice free (if it ever happens) for 15 minutes will be of any great significance. :) :) The polar bears probably won't like it anyway!
