Luckily for you two you caught me when I'm in a chatty mood.
Being a stoner has nothing to do with the hemp issue directly, indirectly the high part was the part used in the past to get it as banned as it has been for the last 70 years or do. DuPont was not concerned about a few people getting high or using it as a medicine of some sort, they wanted hemp products off the market completely and they succeeded. The replacement was based on oil products and that holds true today if a complete list was compiled.
The problem arises when oil is not available or a move to alternate energy happens and the raw material for the plastic industry goes missing. Even a switch to NG would mess that chain up and the best alternative would be going back to hemp and replacing the list with products based on hemp.
Since there is no hemp industry today that leaves the opportunity to start from the ground up so planting and harvesting and processing that would eventually employ millions if retail sales is counted at the end of 10 years. If you want to go into debt this would be the way to go as there is a return on investments. The building of the base equipment would be in that 10 year plan but the machines should last forever so the final product dept would then become the growth industry. Development would be 'in-house' with citizens being the test market and surplus items then become exportable to such places as China as cabinets for their electronics.

To get into large scale production means some changes in crops would be required and the Prairies would be the better growing areas so that is where the planting and harvesting would begin so they would be the first to see a growth in 'recovery'. Medical pot will be grown is secure facilities, a hemp crop doesn't even need fences and it grows in ditches all by itself so it doesn't need much help in the growing department except in making sure the tallest plants get the best chance.

Hemp can have a ever expanding list of things it is used for, medical pot has one use, help with an ailment. That list might expand but not the way you take it or how much a person takes. That takes money out of the pockets of people for the most part as only a few in the chain make money at it. Hemp is just the opposite it's wide use means it employs many people and because the products are long lasting and being recyclable it allows for heritage items to be produced and keep up with changes in products and designs at the same time.

Rope is one product and rope is a collection of small strings so that is the 1st product in a long list of products. Rope woven into a 'fabric' could be the base tor what metal is used for at the moment. Besides being a fraction of the cost it become impervious to rust and other forms of decay yet it can be recycled entirely and the raw material is biodegradable although it resists that process so it does take some time.
Hemp thread and small fibers are one product, the pulpy interior of the plant is another avenue to useful manufactured items, such as lightweight concrete with a high R-Value.
How many people are employed in the plastics industry these days? (if you have forgotten what the topic actually is)

Geez, I hope that government employees won't be allowed to partake when they're "working". It's hard enough to get them to move now...Maybe that's Trudeau's re-election plan. One person is gonna show up from Elections Canada on voting day. Three weeks later, they'll find someone at CBC who isn't stoned and he'll make the television announcement.

Six people voted in last month's federal election. That kid is PM again...I sure hope they legalize wine gums too.

How much fibre and seed can you get from one 1/4 section?

Colorado has travelled the pot path and all is not roses, cops have no sobriety test for pot like they do for booze. Hopefully but doubtful if trudeau will consider real time health issues and the Colorado experience.

If you can indulge the bloody ads a good primer into pot pros and cons.

Yeah, I think Justin could be embarking on a steep learning curve with this sh*t!

Colorado like Canada is testing devices to give a quick result of drug impairment, that we like colorado are behind the curve is hardly an endorsement for pot. Testing does not equate to an accepted cop shop device also embraced by the judiciary.
What we really need is another product competing with booze for top auto fatality spot but ottawa is bankrupt and desperate times call for desperate measures. Trimming bureaucratic fat is not attuned to sunny ways and far too practical to be politically correct.
