Now, FINALLY we are starting to get somewhere. The number of murders has very little to do with guns. There are a thousand reasons besides guns, just to identify a few, some main reasons would be the disposition of the people, issues inherent in the country, the laws and law enforcement protocol in the country.
Number of murders has everything to do with availability of guns. However, one has to compare like with the like. It is dishonest to throw in China and Jamaica into the mix, neither are developed countries. There can be many other factors which come into the picture in a country which is not developed. Poverty, dictatorship (government itself can do plenty of murders in a dictatorship), lack of civil rights, lack of proper law and order etc.
One must compare like with like, one must look at developed countries. So let us leave out China and Jamaica from the mix and look at it again.
Canada........lots of gun control...........murder rate 1.83 per 100,00
Israel.......every Jew armed.....................murder rate 1.87 per 100,00
Switzerland........everyone armed.........murder rate 2.26 per 100,00
USA .....lots of guns...................................murder rate 5.4 per 100,000
Out of the four countries, Canada is the only one which has strict gun control and it has the lowest murder rate of the four.
Also, he has tried to cook the statistics by selectively picking the countries. Put in the other developed countries into the mix (Britain, France, Norway, Denmark or any developed country for that matter). They all have strict gun control and they have much lower murder rates than USA or Switzerland.
