... and by this you mean? ....The military is a barrel of sorts. The barrel is thinking about state sanctioned death events that may be tainted by this accused officer.

Umm - reality check ... as competent asw he wa a t his job, he was a 46 year old colonel. While he may have been creme, he wasn't creme de la creme.Intelligence and power are indicators too. He didn't get ahead by being an average nice guy. To rise that high in the creme you gotta be ruthless and uncaring to begin with.
Most crazys and killers that go crazy are of extreme high intelligence.
Without knowing any of the evidence against Col. Williams, but assuming there is a substantial amount of evidence implicating him, i'll make one prediction.
Williams apparently spent much of his time during the week alone at his cottage, visiting his wife at the their Ottawa home on weekends. My prediction is that on his home computer in Trenton the police will find numerous subscriptions and downloads of hard core Bondage and Dominance sites.
It's not the first instance that extreme pornography has elicited some material, violent, acting out response to deeply suppressed impulses, overcoming all constructive compensations, which would have to be there for a high ranking military officer.
For that reason i think they will NOT find a trail of similar victims in his past. Something triggered an obsession that was largely moribund and inactive until last year.
Well, I'll admit I'm going to not pre-judge what will be found on his computer. Why? Oh, unscientific, unrational reasons.God knows I am no expert on this, nor would I want to be.....but I think Petros is correct, mass murderers become murderers long before they commit the act...and sociopaths tend to be very very smart.......and Karrie is right.....unfortunately, there is an attraction in power for people of this type, police, military, management........a tiny segment of any force will be people that very much should not be there.....
But I don't think pornography starts this.......I think you are putting the egg before the chicken, so to speak....
Can you imagine if this event happened in the US? Next week Larry King would interview his second cousin's veterinary assistant. A parade of guests would discuss whether or not the country can recover. Nancy Grace would be spitting nails and her show would set a world record for on-screen scrolling news bites.
An old freind of mine is a world reknown expert on serial killers and I have asked him for his analysis on this case. I will share it when he gets back to me but I will not identify him unless he says its OK. He is Canadian but lives in the States so he wants to do a little research before answering. irst reaction, though, is that this one is unusual.
That's awesome aman... because that's what's really needed is to narrow it down to this specific type of guy. It's this guy, not serial killers as a whole, or murderers in general that makes me think 'power seeker'. Forcible confinement, rape, and murder, screams of someone who rigidly wants to control others. It just doesn't surprise me that he'd choose a job such as policing or military work.
Here is a bit more news that I think puts the cap on it. He took the police to Jessica's body.

Colonel Russell Williams has given police a lengthy and wide-ranging statement about four dozen so-called "lingerie break-ins," two home invasions that turned into bizarre sexual assaults last September, and the murders of two young women, one a military steward with whom he may have flown.
Several sources have also told The Globe and Mail that the 46-year-old commander of Canadian Forces Base Trenton took detectives to the body of Jessica Lloyd, a 27-year-old who suddenly disappeared on Jan. 29 after texting a friend she had safely arrived home.
The Globe has also learned that while Col. Williams was in countless photographs in the base newspaper, The Contact, since taking over the job last summer - there is hardly an issue without at least several pictures of the lantern-jawed veteran - more ominously, he was also an avid amateur photographer.
Sources say that he photographed the murders and sexual attacks. His computer, once examined by forensic specialists, is expected to yield what one source called "a treasure trove" of evidence.
After Sunday's extraordinary interview with officers from the OPP's criminal behavioural analysis section, Col. Williams was formally charged with two murders - Ms. Lloyd's and the Nov. 25 slaying of Corporal Marie-France Comeau - and the two unusual sexual assaults in nearby Tweed, Ont., last fall.
The key officer in the room was Detective-Sergeant Jim Smith, who last year had obtained a statement in the abduction and murder of eight-year-old Tori Stafford of Woodstock, Ont., last summer.
Juan, I came on to post the same thing, but you beat me to it.
Kinda looks like our boy is guilty as hell.
There will not be a full trial, he will plead guilty, make a statement of fact, be declared a dangerous offender, and sent off to max-max prison for the rest of his life.
I feel so sorry for his wife, as well as the families of his victims.
Forget about the family of the perp. What about the family of the victims??????????? Isn't it a bigger nightmare for them?????Yeah. It would be kinder to everyone to skip the trial if possible.
I can only imagine what it was like for his wife to come home and find her husband has been arrested and charged with the murder of two young women. Talk about a nightmare.

Give me a break. A minor victim compared to the ones that are, well, dead, and their families that have to deal with that .Risus we have already talked about the victims. The colonel's wife is a victim too.

When I see a crime like this where the murderer is a tall, good looking, intelligent man, I wonder what triggered this behavior. He had a successful career. He made full colonel at age 44. The next rank is brigadier general. Why was he attacking and killing young women?
