First of all, no one with a grasp on reality give's a rat's ass about international law....other than lip service.

Two, exactly which "occupied" lands are we talking about, and which group of looney Islamic terrorists are you blessing with "rights"???

Hamas in Gaza perhaps? Which Israel totally abandoned years ago, forcbly taking their settlers with them.

Or the idiots of Hezbollah in Lebanon?........which Israel also left years ago, and even had the UN draw the boundary line!

Or Fatah of the West Bank?.....with whom they are currently negotiating..............

If the Arabs had declared their state along with Israel in 1948 then they'd have a case. But they didn't. So they don't. That's why it's actually disputed, not occupied, territory. Neither Jordan nor Egypt wanted anything more to do with the West Bank and Gaza respectively. That put the land in a political vacuum.

Yet we still support a Palestian Arab State being formed there lol. Seem everyone wants an Arab state in the territories, except the Arabs.

The whole Middle East is nothing more than a patchwork quilt of contradictions.
After a war, the land taken belongs to who ever took it, and international law is
something like the United Nations, it exists but who cares.
The problems go back to the time of Abraham and there is no possible way it
will change in our lifetime. Before I get to what I think about settlements I ask
this question. Why is it the Jews, the Arabs, and the Christians all claim they
are the children of Abraham. Then if that is the case, why the hell can't they
figure out a way to be civil siblings?
The fact is Israel claims it wants peace, and the Arabs want their own land.
This is something the Jewish people should empathize with as they were the
ones who had no homeland for nearly 2000 years. Instead the role has changed
the area of Palestine has changed hands throughout history, and the Jews took
it back legal or not. There is the possibility of at least discussing peace and in
fact creating a homeland for the Palestinians. Therefore I think it is in very poor
taste for the Israelis to continue building on the West Bank until the talks play
out, and the future of that tract of land is decided.
Of course there will likely be no agreement, and there is lots of time to build
homes. The real question to be answered by these two groups is. When is
enough bloodshed enough?

I wonder if the western world really wants (or cares to have) a Palastinian state. Really, this whole thing has been going on since 1947, and Palastine still isn't a state. The worst pressure Israel gets from the west is just a wag of the finger, and the occasional bad press which Israelis just brush off and don't give a sh*t. The western world really likes to talk the Palastine state lip service, but doesn't go beyond that.

The question pretty much at this point is does the world really care if Palastine becomes a state or not?

I disagree, there have been many opportunities to form a state. There is a glorious opportunity right now. Somehow the PA prefers to obsess over apartment buildings in Jerusalem over the business of state building. Somehow this has never been a stumbling block in the past. Thanks Barack! lol. I find it fascinating how the biggest stumbling block to negotiations right now is the presence of Jews in Palestine. Yet we keep hearing about how Israel is the apartheid state. Hello cognitive dissonance.

All that's needed for peace is for the Arabs to decide that creating their own state and living in peace with Israel, is more desirable than dismantling Israel.

Funny, lately the so-called Mideast "peace" talks seem to have left the news. Building settlements agitates Arabs to no end so they've likely pissed on the phony talks so no progress is likely, now, or ever.

There have been opportunities, but the western world hasn't taken advantage or even put any real effort into making those opportunities a reality. The Palastinians will obsess over anything Israel does no matter what. With the current non action of the international community I seriously doubt this situation would be resolved in a timely manner, or at all for that matter.

There you go Palestinians come with an ultimatum one month or else.
Israel must be laughing up their sleeve. After all, why would you waste
time preparing for talks when the other side is going to stomp its foot
and leave anyway. Who said the Palestinians are focused on things
they cannot change to the point where they won't discuss reality.
The west cares, they just don't care enough, if the people in the region
don't want to shun violence and join the civilized world, why would the
rest of us bother to try solving their problem?
Look at the two societies. In Israel there is wealth, there is a vibrant
economy, people enjoy a measure of freedom. At least democracy
is a word that is mentioned.
On the Arab side, there is poverty, rubble everywhere, no jobs, no real
economy, there is only religious traditions where freedom is only a dream
in the distant future. The people are hardened and bitter and there is
little hope.
you would think if you were that unhappy and that miserable, God is
likely not on your side like you thought (yes I am joking) some people
get upset.
If the Arabs want to get ahead and have what Israel has they have to go out
and speak for peace and build a nation of their own and Stop Whining.
The rest of us don't want to hear their endless complaining.
Build an economy, a society, a middle class, and join the 21st century.

If the Palastinians want to take their ball and go home then I say let them. Israel will just keep doing its own thing, and the rest of the world will keep doing theres. The Palastinians aren't a priority on the world stage, just like the crisis in Darfur. The Palastinians need to get real about negotiations and be ready to make concessions (like forgetting about having the whole of Jerusalem). They're not gonna get everything they want in the first agreement, something that Israel has made clear many times over. But if they want to keep planting their foot down and not be flexible then they can forget about having their own country and the world will just move on to something else.
