I did have the SetCPU app on the Motorola Milestone but with a dualcore 1.2GHz processor on the Galaxy S II, it's not really necessary.

On that point, me too. I run a modified kernel with an almost vanilla ROM, mostly for future modifications. I'm happy with the Samsung apps I currently have but will play around once I'm comfortable with the phone. Overall I'm really pleased that Samsung doesn't hinder community development for this device as they've given 4 free S2's to the dev team at Cyanogenmod, which I will probably install once it's stable.

You're like me. I'm not running a custom firmware right now but I have a modified kernal that allows to overclock the cpu to 1.4ghz, ext4 support and other various tweaks.

Do you use the "SetCPU" app? It's great for setting various cpu profiles, for example. If batter is less than 40%, underclock to 800mhz, or if screen is off, underclock to 200mhz etc etc. Another good one is "autostarts", gives you amazing control over what loads, allowing you to disable all sorts of crap that runs in the background.

Not everyone is a phone junkie, I have a five year old LG flip phone. It has a place to take
pictures and a phone number storage section, I can go on the net with it but I don't because
it is being used as a phone. I managed to get text messaging disconnected and still send
pictures to my computer. On the home phone if someone texts me I do not answer I hate
text messaging as much as those telemarketers.
This little phone still works don't need an update and it was once run over by the tractor and
it still works. Won't have anything but an LG phone now. I think the touch screens and so on
are OK for those who like them, I don't need aps and I don't do things like farmville and I still
use my phone for a conversation.
