It's your cowardly habit of refusing to admit to being wrong that gets people angry along with your arrogant display that you know it all.

And why would that be a reason to get angry (granting it to be true, which I don’t for a moment)? Normally people get angry when their views are refuted, when they cannot argue their point logically, reasonably, forcefully. When logic fails, they try to reinforce their argument by rude language, by name calling.

Like you for instance. If you could argue your point, logically, would you really have to resort to name calling? No way. You realize that your argument is weak, does not hold water, is nonsense. So you (rightly) think that it needs reinforcement in the form of name calling.

You prove my point perfectly.

I think you may be missing one main point, S.J. - I'm not sure that religion is something that can be argued with pure logic. Religion is not based on science, so there is just no step by step method of reaching a logical conclusion. Another word for religion is "faith", and that tells me something.

I quite agree, JLM. Religion is faith, either you take it on faith or you don’t. The problem comes when religionists try to argue their position logically, try to convince us in a logical manner that their path is the right path, the only true path. Then they have to be refuted by logical reasoning.

But as to religion, you re right. How do you prove existence or nonexistence of God? You don’t, either you take it on faith or you don’t.

I think that Christ and Buddha were both saying and I think you would agree that getting angry does little but breed morer anger. The butting of heads gets no one (hopefully:smile:) anything but a headache!

Both philosophies would say< I think> that an enlightened person should remain calm, but NOT just -for example. Afterall. Would it not be better to have understandings, discussions, ongoing debates to understand more deeply, if not agree? Both parties come out the wiser through mutual understanding.

There is less stress to be entangled not just in the mind, but less also to the body and its vital organs. The real benefit however, to most, is that the Spirit can remain at peace for that bit longer! To remain at peace for longer than it would have- thus having more opportunity to share the benefit of peace... and personal reasons found for it.
What God? There is not, and never has been one single iota of evidence that such an entity exists. FTR the Bible doesn't prove it any more than J.K. Rowling's books prove Harry Potter exists.
Buddha firmly declared that he was NOT a god. Soon after he died, his followers declared that he had been miraculously born through a slit that appeared in his mothers side, and that he was indeed a god. Yeehah!

This sad and pathetic need for some kind of Big Daddy In the Sky is due to be retired to the Judaic-Christian-Islamic funny farm.

Christians... does this tell the work of the Spirit or WHAT!!! It is our battle over what we once were, what we are now delivered from. The armour of God is our defense, it is our hope and salvation... lest we fall back in those ways that once led us and offered us the humility and insight of our Lord.

Comments?

Buddists are welcome to share their growth and insights.
God bless us all. Ready or not!
Xtianity not only punishes for our actions that were likely inevitable because after all, 'God made us that way'.
In addition, God also punishes us for our thoughts which no one can control. Thought control is utterly repugnant.
Finally, after you die, Xtianity warns us that we will be punished forever ie. this God that you love is so full of hate that He will never stop punishing you.
NO thanks, only someone who is simple minded, a masochist, or a fool would worship such utter evil.

The Canaanites who became the early Jews worshiped many gods including an INVISIBLE omnipresent wind God.
During the Babylonian Diaspora they emulated the Zoroastrians and became monotheists. They naturally chose the invisible God (cheaper to transport!). This God 'EL' had a heavenly spouse 'Ashera' (sp?) who melted away. El eventually Adonai, Jehova, and then various euphemisms such as 'Lord' etc..
The Canaanite wind god never exists and neither do any of its 'descendants'.
And FTR 'Christ' comes from the Greek 'christos' meaning King. Jeshuva ben Joseph was never King of ANYTHING.

His brother James (whom the liars in the Vatican say never existed) and Paul invented Christianity which is really 'Paulianity', after his death.
The gospels were most written centuries after his death with the earliest one about 90 A.C.E.
Until then not a mention or any artwork depicting a crucifixation or other miracles. No reports from the era of virgin birth; later invented by liars. Also lets add the original designation in Hebrew of Jeshuva's mommy. The word is 'alma' which just means 'young woman. Nothing about her 'virginity'. BTW according to RC Dogma, she was a virgin before Jeshuva arrived, and also afterwards!! Along the way the Vatican liars institutionalized the anti-Semitic meme and nearly 2000 years of hate have done an excellent job in creating an almost genetic level of Jew-hatred.

I make little mention of Mohammed. He was a warlord and killed many people and for his era, caused as much death and despair as Hitler, Stalin, or Mao.

In logic this is not more than bubbling.. saying words and insisting on them.
This is like one is told there is the sun in the sky, and he says: what sun, what sky: there is nothing like that.
And again he is told: that is the sun, and he says: I don't believe.
And whatever he is told, he insists: no sun.

Where have you learned such words like Big Daddy, Yeehah, and you are the communist from Iraq!? "Like the muaidy (the rural Arab) in the city market place."
