I don't know...I worked at the hospital in the kitchen, we all partied together...one guy had super wealthy parents who went out a lot...we got drunk all of the time at his place and all the guys always were awesome

I think I have been super lucky or something because we all took care of each other, male and female, no one left another alone around others, and when someone got sick someone was always okey dokey with barf patrol too...

so being around guys who think it's okay to take advantage of women is bizarre to me...maybe I just have really good people instincts.. I don't know

lots of us are still in contact from kindergarten

This'll sound like I'm BSing you, but here goes. . .

I think part of it is that you send out a million little signals that tell men that if they mess with you, they'll be wearing their 'nads for earrings. And not in a nasty way, just sorta "Howdy. Nice to meet you. Let's have a drink and and laugh. You know what happens if you cross the line. Or you will."

Unsurprising. Research shows that the "school of hard knocks" is crap, and people who grew up in loving, supportive, decent environments are far more confident and resilient. People sense that, and cowards avoid you. Or behave themselves.

yeah it doesn't sound like you are BSing me

I actually think you are right on from a psychological perspective...

I have worked with women with abusive boyfriends/husbands, they come through the door and that type never likes me...they are polite and brief

Just a bunch of insecure, chippy birds with inferiority complexes towards the superior gender (they'll never admit it but they know I'm right) and who have nothing better to do with their time (who's doing all the cooking, cleaning and ironing?) who will, no doubt, get to appear with those harridans on Loose Women spending the whole show telling us what pet names they have given to their periods.

even the guys I partied with in high school and we were under aged and got drunk almost every weekend together, would not have touched a naked drunk passed out girl...they would not have

They must have been gay.

Can someone give the Coles notes version of what I am looking at here?

I'm not well versed in the tweeters.

Bill Clinton is a good role model isn't he? Hillary Clinton supports her man no matter what. Isn't that admirable? John Edwards is also a good role model isn't he?

nah they were red-blooded males with the exception of one, these guys just had "character" they were trustworthy individuals...I never slept with a single one of them...but they definitely slept with the female persuasion, although none of us spoke about whether or not we were sleeping with others at that time...that would have been uncouth

this particular group were all buds...we knew "stuff" about each other...we even knew stuff about their dates, they knew about our male dates, we all worked together after school, on weekends and during the summer

we told each other "stuff" and got their input on what the other sex liked, didn't like,

things were different back in those days, not everything was about sex....it was about connecting although there was plenty going on too, we just didn't puke it all onto the table

The fact that you are a member of the male gender proves our gender is not superior.

so what has changed... I am confused

Nothing, just luck of the draw. The parties I went to were similar to what you describe. I never saw or heard of anything inappropriate happening. Also at my high school there were plenty of people who were out of the closet and didn't get a hard time from bullies at all. Meanwhile in other schools or other cities at the same time girls were getting assaulted or raped and gay kids were being hounded to death by bullies.

it really baffles me, we were just average kids or at least I thought so at the time

some of us were rich some were really bright but the rest of us were just your average kid trying to get along, most people were pretty kind actually, even to some of the kids who were waaaaaaaaaay out there

and rich or poor we all worked

hardly anyone had a car, we walked everywhere, kids borrowed their parents cars

just average kids

Most kids are just like that. Sadly, not all. There are bound to be some who are not normal in a dangerous way no matter how they were raised or where they are. A lot of serial killers, rapists and other dangerous types didn't just become that way overnight. Most started showing signs very early and learned how to hide them to blend in. We always hear about those ones but if you look at the numbers they are a very small minority. Most kids are just kids.

That's a real high caliber response to ridicule. You're a supporter of Bill Clinton aren't you?

He's a funny guy. I like funny guys.
