I don't know...I worked at the hospital in the kitchen, we all partied together...one guy had super wealthy parents who went out a lot...we got drunk all of the time at his place and all the guys always were awesome
I think I have been super lucky or something because we all took care of each other, male and female, no one left another alone around others, and when someone got sick someone was always okey dokey with barf patrol too...
so being around guys who think it's okay to take advantage of women is bizarre to me...maybe I just have really good people instincts.. I don't know
lots of us are still in contact from kindergarten
This'll sound like I'm BSing you, but here goes. . .
I think part of it is that you send out a million little signals that tell men that if they mess with you, they'll be wearing their 'nads for earrings. And not in a nasty way, just sorta "Howdy. Nice to meet you. Let's have a drink and and laugh. You know what happens if you cross the line. Or you will."
Unsurprising. Research shows that the "school of hard knocks" is crap, and people who grew up in loving, supportive, decent environments are far more confident and resilient. People sense that, and cowards avoid you. Or behave themselves.
