That sounds fair. They're getting divorced... what does he expect?

I don't think you're quite getting my point here.

Had this been the other way around, and it was the man who had won the lottery, there is no way he would have been able to keep it all for himself. The court would have forced him to hand over half of it, if not more, to the woman. Men in divorce courts are always being forced to hand over half their assets, at least, to the woman. Yet this woman gets to keep all of the money that she won - which she won whilst being married to this man - just because she's a woman and they get treated favourably in the divorce courts. This misandrist discrimination has got to stop - now.

If the prize was won (or, more correctly, the ticket purchased) once the divorce proceedings were started, the ticket holder should keep the whole prize. Otherwise, it should be shared.

If it had been the man who won the lottery, he would have been forced to hand over half of it - if not most of it - to the woman.

That is possible but it is also depends on the judge.

Historically women have done better but more and more, with the help of men's advocacy groups, the decisions are becoming more equitable.

Two of my friends went through a divorce and she expected to wring her husband of every penny, keep the house, etc. The judge saw it differently and followed the law. Their assets were divided equally. She was BS as she expected the judge to have him hand over everything. Maybe in the past that would have happened but not today. Maybe Britain is different.

He can be slightly prejudiced at times. :)

It's actually the divorce courts which are prejudiced - against men - not me. I'm just stating the fact that if it had been the man who had won the lottery he would have been forced to hand over at least half of it to the woman.

It's similar to how (in Britain at least) a wife is able to transfer money from her husband's account to hers but a husband is not allowed to transfer money from his wife's account to his.

Family law courts. Guaranteeing to screw over the male to benefit the female. Children, money, businesses. If you've got a womb, they'll dance to your tune.

In 2013, Britain's Supreme Court ordered a Nigerian oil tycoon to hand over a multi-million pound property portfolio to his ex-wife, even though these properties were owned by an offshore company.
