A southern Newfoundland woman has been sentenced to nine months of probation for stealing cash from sympathy cards left in a church.
Harbour Breton resident Geraldine Skinner, 46, was convicted in March of theft under $5,000.
She pleaded guilty on the charge, and admitted to taking money tucked inside sympathy cards left at a funeral at an Anglican church in the community.
At sentencing in provincial court in Harbour Breton on Thursday, Skinner was also given an absolute discharge.
