With Poilievre's victory, some Liberal MPs hope party will pivot to the centre

Some Liberal MPs say the party needs to refocus as it prepares to go head-to-head against a new brand of Conservatives — including being "less woke," according to Radio-Canada.

A handful of MPs spoke to the French-language arm of CBC — most on the condition that they not be named — as the party gathers for a caucus meeting in the coastal resort town of Saint Andrews, N.B.

The meeting is meant to underline the party's priorities ahead of the fall sitting, which will see a new face leading His Majesty's Loyal Opposition: Pierre Poilievre.

Trudeau will never go for it. As it is his fall line up is gun control, more censorship and freebies to people to relieve the stress his policies have already caused.

From the link in the OP:

“Within the Liberal ranks, some said they would like to see the party adopt more centrist positions to counter Poilievre.”

At least they realize they AREN’T the centre….

"We must return to a federal centre, centre-right party," said another MP, also on the condition they not be identified. "We need a government that is down to earth and less woke."

Centre-Right….novel idea….down to Earth & less woke….hmmmm….

"Poilievre's party can't fill the centre," said another? Oh? The Liberals are so far left that they’ve been trying to out-Left the NDP for quite some now….& the Conservatives can’t fill the the Centre-Right? Interesting.

Those ones do. I'm not sure justin and his friends do. I think justin is pretty sure he's the center. Of everything.

Well that's the amusing bit. If we're being completely honest and analytical, for the most part polievre's policies pretty much ARE the center. Run the gov't responsibly, let the provinces do their thing, help grow business, etc. Some might claim that axing the cbc is right of center but it isn't by much, and even expanding energy to steal the business from russia is hardly 'right wing radical' thinking.

It's just they've set the bar so far to the left that they think anything right of Guaranteed Basic Income is extreme right.
