I am not saying your wrong, but the key phrase you made was "I have watched". You observed from afar, read and were shown pictures of what they wanted you to see to make a point one way or another. When you have actually been someplace and have seen for yourself you do come up with a more realistic comprehension of the situation.
You invade a country, you don't expect to be welcomed with open arms. If you are in the military, you are prepared with information and pictures that is designed to elicit a particular response when you arrive. You invade a country and you compare what you see to what you know. If you land in a place like Iraq or Afghanistan and you think, "These people are so backward. they live is such squalor compared to how we live back home." Does this not demean these people in your view? Doesn't make it easier to kill people who you look down on or who you have the preconceived idea are terrorists of crazy?
I wish I could believe Obama's idea of diplomacy and reconciliation, because it is the only civilized way to resolve conflicts. But i know that he is just as much a puppet of the military/industrial complex as Dubbya was. Too bad. And, although you seem to be a decent human being, you are still a product of it.
