Scotland is comparable to Quebec in Canada, dependant upon the rest of the country to pay their bills.

lol Brits must be desperate. Basically ChRETIeN seems to be suggesting or at least implying that they use any means possible to win the referendum. I suppose they couldn't pick a better foreigner for offering the suggestion/implication of dirty fighting other than someone like D|CK Cheney. On the other hand, as conniving as the Brits can be, I doubt if they can out-clever the Scots.

If it weren't for Scottish explorers such as Mackenzie and the Bay boys who surveyed and traded into Canada West, if it weren't for that Scot Sandford Fleming who gave us standard time and the CPR (our Scottish PM Macdonald's dream), and if it weren't for golf and curling, no one would venture west of Quebec, know what to do in summer or winter, or know when it was time for supper.

Cryst, scotch of course. I'm getting old. Passed the "Imaging Centre" and read the sign as the "I'm aging centre."

In an attempt at fair play, I searched for England's contribution to Canadian civilization.
Joseph Priestley invented fizzy water.
Scotch and soda, anyone?

The Scots will make their OWN decision on this matter.

Personally, I hope that they vote for independence. But then again, my surname is Stewart!

I defer; I am sorry, I should have checked my Scottish language dictionary. However, I have some trouble with what are true Scots. Is a Scot a Pict, Gael, Anglo-Saxon, Viking, Norman Frenchman, or lost Roman legionnaire?
