"Do they have no political acumen at all?"

Well you and I both know that the political experience resides with the Liberals...it takes time to become a sneaky, quiet, scoundrels….

here's what harper have declare yesterday :

"Because [the bill officializing the same-sex marriage] is only being adopted thanks to the support of the Block, I think that it will miss legitimacy to the eyes of several Canadians, The truth, it is because most of the federalist representatives will oppose to this measure. "

so now gay suporter are only the bloc ?

and the bloc have no legitimacy ? ok, but when the bloc try to defeat the governement with harper last month, he sure didnt say something like that...

RE: why steven harper wil

Well he is still shooting his mouth off. He will never become Prime minister and he knows it, yet he says he will have another vote on SSM? Is he that stupid? The courts had it legalized pretty well everywhere and the SCOC would of legalized it everywhere anyways, so what he have to gain by saying that? Nothing. He is just showing what an intolerant bigot he really is.

Harper has resorted to playing to his base in an attempt to save what's left of his leadership. He should be pandering to Quebec, instead he's attacking them.

i want the conservatives to win but I don't want Harper to lead the party. I think Peter MacKay would make a very good prime minister or at least better than any of the foolish leaders we have now

McKay is scum. He stabbed David Orchard in the back on national television during the leadership convention. He pretends to be moderate while second in command of the most radically right party in Canadian history. He has gone after moderate conservatives and liberals alike for daring to question the radical stance of the party he helps to lead.

I can understand why you'd want him in Ottawa instead of back east. There is a certain comfort in knowing that he's too far away to stab you in the back personally, but he will hurt you far worse from Ottawa if you give him the chance.

McKay broke his written promise by proceeding to sell out his party to the Alliance. Look where it got them... had the PC's stayed PC's they would've stood a good chance at taking out Martin.... not that I'd prefer or want it...but it's a realistic possibility. If he would do that to his own party... what would he do to our country?!

Reasons Why The Conservatives are better than the liberals.

1. They will give Canada much needed money on the millitary. we are sending our men out to be killed basiclly. the conditions our men work in are horrible we have hardly any supplies and weponswe are very dependant on the US for protection

2. no more Crazy scandals the liberals have some guy giving them money to keep Quebec in Canada and some of the money goes to the sepratists and our prime minister was head of fianace at the time please get him out

3.no more abortion abortion is crazy it is like murdering babys anyone who has an abortion should be sent to jail. gay marrige is not that bad but i am starting to think Paul martin is Gay because he seems to want gay marige really badly

4. the gun registrey is costing us millions and criminals do not reister thier guns anyway.

those are some of the reasons i would vote conservative

Evaryone in this forum likes the NDP (i think) and i do agree with you canukle head that if the PCS stayed PC they would have a better chance of bringing down Martin. but i disagree when you say that is bad. also at the time the sponsership scandal have not been figuered out about at the time they were to weak to take down Martin in the last elaction anyway it might have been possible this election. but I would have rathered they stayed PC

The Conservatives have the most expensive plan for the military, but it ties us to the US, would have had our people dying for Halliburton and Exxon in Iraq, and is not sustainable according to most economists.

2. no more Crazy scandals the liberals have some guy giving them money to keep Quebec in Canada and some of the money goes to the sepratists and our prime minister was head of fianace at the time please get him out

The Conservatives have managed to show themselves to be corrupt without even coming to power. Imagine what they'd be like if they got their greasy little fingers on the national cheque book.

3.no more abortion abortion is crazy it is like murdering babys anyone who has an abortion should be sent to jail. gay marrige is not that bad but i am starting to think Paul martin is Gay because he seems to want gay marige really badly

Man, you really are ignorant of the facts, aren't you? Allow me to enlighten you.

The abortion issue was settled years ago. Paul Martin was not PM. It wouldn't have mattered if he was though, because it was settled in the courts. Banning abortion is unconstitutional.

The same sex mariage issue was also settled in the courts. Your assertion that Paul Martin is gay shows your ignorance though.

4. the gun registrey is costing us millions and criminals do not reister thier guns anyway.

You pretty much live on sound-bites, don't you? You seem to eat them up uncrtically and without thought.

How does the gun registry negatively affect you? The big money is already spent, so don't go screaming about your taxes...you aren't getting those back.

Do you have guns? Do you register them? Does it create a huge financial burden on you?

RE: why steven harper wil

This Gomery report was basically a summary of what we already knew (if you have been following it).

So I still do not believe Harper can capitalize on it. He has not shown himself to be a viable alternative to the Libs (except for a very small segment that is against abortion and same sex marriage).

Like the Liberals have been in for 13 years and strangley there is not a large setiment to get rid of them. Why? I think largly do to Harper and the "wacky" things that come out of that camp.

They had an analyst on radio this morning and Liberals may lose 5-6 seats in Quebec next time but Cons will lose seats to Libs in Ontario and lose seats to NDP and Libs in BC.

Since the Reform/Alliance hey day, the cons have lost seats here in BC to both Liberals and Ndp. The biggest surprise was that Ted White in North Van losing to the libs and how that Reynolds next riding over barely held on for cons.

The cons and Harper are just going in circles and if Harper does not deliver next time, he will be gone. I can't see them gaining anywhere really, just the opposite except for Alberta but they can only gain 2 there but it won't make up for what they will lose. Then bye bye Harper.

I agree with Rev on this. But even though I disagree with the Reform-Allianceories' (there are no more real Tories who aren't Liberals any more) ideologies, my biggest problem with Harper is that he tells the Party members one thing and the electorate something else.

Unfortunately, I didn't save them and they since been taken down, but Harper wrote forceful articles for the National Citizens' Coalition (scummy lobby group for the rich and amoral) denouncing public healthcare and describing why it should be abolished.

Now that he's running for office, he's trying to paint himself as a supporter of the current system. Some of his other hypocrsies are in Rev's post.

Just like they always do  Its legal to have a abortion in this country, its legal for gays to marry in this country...You lost, end of story.
But hey! I say keep it up, show canadians why they should not elect a conservative government. Keep up the good work
