And yes, like it or not, our hate laws do afford babies the same protections as any other group in society.

Actually babies are not a recognized minority, so the hate laws do not apply. Children are afforded most of the same rights as adults under other parts of the Charter. Calling them parasites is no different than referring to Harperites the same way though...not a hate crime.

Perhaps you should try reading what I wrote Mediana. Let me break it down for you...

Simple statement based on legal fact. It points out that babies are not covered by the hate-crime laws.

Another simple statement based on legal fact. It acknowledges that children have rights under the charter.

Hey, Rev., I'd imagine you're familiar with The Reith Lectures, well the BBC have just made some historic lectures available online (including one by J.K. Galbraith), as well most of the more recents ones. One of the reasons why I love the BBC.

the bbc is run by a board of publicly employed governors, from various backgrounds, who can be replaced if need be. I'd have thought public finance was the best way to run a public service, which is what the bbc is - its remit is not governed purely by ratings and, as the bbc doesn't have to attract advertising, it can cater for minorities, and show programmes other that soap operas and blockbuster movies (although, to be fair, the commercial stations in the UK are of generally good quality too).

As for TV police, the bbc has rules it's programmes must follow - against incitment to racial hatred, for instance - but they are quite relaxed. Of course, we have some censorship laws that apply to all broadcasters. There are various complaints bodies you can contact, if you see or hear something you don't like

I see! Everyone who owns a TV has to pay a license fee, or face a fine - in order to regulate this, anyone who buys a TV has to give proof of address. This is then checked against a register. (Apparently, there is also such a thing as a TV detector van, which can pull up at an address that does not possess a license, and scan to detect broadcasts. However, I've never seen one, and wonder if they aren't just an urban myth probably disseminated by the beeb to scare folk into paying up!)

I like the British system of Public Broadcasting. I don't like the incessant begging for funds I come across whenever I tune in PBS.

PBS is also heavily influenced by their corporate donors. Reagan chopped their government support and now the public broadcaster with no ads has ads before and after every show.

One thing I like about the CBC and CBC Newsworld is that they report on more International news than the American networks and American Cable news networks. I see items on CBC i have never seen on American news. Other than the "occupation" and a few other little tidbits Cnn, Fox etc show pretty well just domestic news. Its almost like they do not realize there is a whole big world out there.

I think George does an awsome job on the hour. I was reading reviews about George and the show, and I just have to say that there are critics everywhere, and u have to expect the worst. He is smart funny, knowledgeable, down to earth and who knows what he is talking about, the way he presents it in his own way is great....The piercings, jeans thing is HOT! He has great potential to accomplish anything. Also, if there weren't critics then we wouldn't have such a good reason to work hard and prove em wrong....
