I dunno. Stopped smoking the dope many many years ago, and quit the cigs about 6 years ago. It' not healthy to smoke either but I sure did my share . I don't think there are any benefits from smoking anything. But you have to understand my perspective, my siblings and I watched our sister waste away from small cell lung cancer . Due ,,as hospice told us, to many years of smoking. My opinion of smoking pot or cigs, which my sister did both, is based on that.
Now compare that wasting away due to nicotine which kill quite a few Canadians as compared to cannabis.
What should your sister have been smoking if legal non-lethal cannabis had been what she would have chosen.
Note the benefit.
Anecdotal information is always good but look at the stats to see just how stupid we have been for so long.

Because we have experience in breaking down barriers of prohibition
Booze took this route too and eventually made its way back into society
You have to bring the proponents the lukewarm attitudes the fence sitters
and the mild cases of disapproval. Its politics and it does take time to
change attitudes
It is not Canadian attitudes that need to change.
It is the political right wing taking bribes from tobacco and alcohol lobbies that control the political corrupt attitude.
End the bribes and good law will be our reward.

It's time to take the profits of cannabis cultivation and sale out of the hands of evil individuals and put them in the hands of good, kind, saintly corporations.
At least it would be taxed and we would not have to maintain as many prisons.
You have no idea how much prohibition is costing us.
I see this as a moral question. A shame that most do not.

Dawdle? Intelligent legislation takes time to draw up. Rushed legislation leads to bad laws that are either ignored or have to be revised. In any case Trudeau has been in power less than four months. I would not expect legislation regarding marijuana to be tabled for at least a year.
We already have models for legislation of alcohol and other drugs.
Cannabis is just another drug as far as our Royal Commission report is concerned.
All Trudeau has to do is follow the recommendations that the intelligentsia has produced for the last 100 years.
Regardless of this, legislation is always revised and changed in the meeting that draft the initial law. Trudeau needs not draft the whole law. Just the direction for the legislation needs be known initially.
Remember that all he has to do is look at the legislation that died on the order papers that his dad put up in 78. Nothing has changed.
