The case against more corporate tax cuts

“Corporate Canada is awash with cash,” he notes, “but soaring profits are being invested outside the country in record amounts, stashed in offshore tax shelters, or paid out to corporate insiders and shareholders.”

Full report in PDF

What good are tax cuts when the money is NOT BEING SPENT IN CANADA? Ever hear of the Cayman islands? Don't bother saying Canada can't compete either as you failed to answer my previous question about Canada not being able to compete.

Ontario is the only province that has never received equalization. Alberta is not a capitalist utopia, it has been putting it's problems onto the rest of Canada.

Now wait am minute Blue...wasn't it you who brought up the fact that the Liberals did not do away with the GST and NAFTA after they had promised to do so at the beginning of their reign. Now your singing the praises of Free Trade...Wouldn't that be a ... contridiction in your political philosophy.

No, I support NAFTA and I never had a problem with the GST, because it replace a hidden manufacturing sales tax which was adjustable at the whim of the government of the day. The proof it is better is that the rate has not changed since its inception, because it is visible.

My use of these two issues when discussing the Liberals was to use them as an example of Liberal lies. They campaigned on getting rid of the GST and NAFTA, then didn't (thank God).

What problems?

Alberta has not received any equalization since at least the 50's, so I think that is a moot point. And Ontario is now saying things about equalization that Alberta has been saying for years, only now attention gets paid to it because Ontario says it.

So let me get this straight Blue... Your against a party that held in place policies that you believe in? These aren't minor policies, these are major economic initiatives.

Hoo boy, need a hammer to get this through to you. I am against a party that will lie and cheat to get into power, and lie, cheat and steal to stay in power. The LIberals lied in 1993, and Ontario bought it. They have been lieing, cheating and stealing ever since.

So that pretty much precludes you from voting for the Conservatives. Are you going Christian Heritage this time around?

Nope, and the last time I checked, the conservatives were not in power, so they have not lied, cheated, or stole anything to get into power. Now the Liberals, on the other hand, lie to themselves, their bed partner Smilin Jack, and the country. Lots of proof of that, which has already been posted here. They have also been proven to steal, and cheat, so I guess the NDP has now aligned themselves with a bunch of crooks, liars, and cheaters. Nice company you boys keep over there on the left.

The Conservatives lied and cheated to help Cargill steal. There is little doubt that Grewal was lying since the tapes he put forth as proof have him asking and the Liberals saying no. It is clear that Harper was trying to bully the Liberals into silence about Grewal demanding money from his constituents before he would represent them too...threatening to sue after Grewal had volunteered the information in committee.

Need a hammer to get this through to you, blue...NOTHING has been proven with regards to the Sponsorship scandal...all that's been heard is conflicting testimony from bureaucrats that are eager to save their own asses...

I'm not saying that the Liberal party is guiltless...I'm saying that at this time, there is no proof of anything, and for you to present Gomery testimony as otherwise is obfuscation and lies...

Glad you're not a member of the judiciary...

Yup, they lost another one. Considering the riding and the pro-military stance of the Cons, that pretty much shows where Harper is in the east. Nowhere.

Gee, the forensic auditors confirmed at least $350million "stolen", and at least $2million back to the Liberal party. And if you want to bury your head in the sands of denial, go ahead. Only fools think the Liberals did nothing wrong, and we don't need to wait for Gomerys summary to confirm it. And you're quite foolish.

...which is not a court of law, which your Conservative counterparts used as an impetus for forcing the election, stating that it was a waste of time to wait for the Gomery report because he did not have the authority to declare guilt or innocence, and neither do you...

RE: Why Conservatives Sho

The testimony I heard from the auditors was more along the lines of them not having the documentation to know where the money went, BA. I saw most of it, and I don't recall any of them declaring the money stolen.

It is truly sad when one so young loses his memory. I believe they confirmed that at least $2million went to the Liberal party, and the amount laundered (my term) is $350million instead of $250million. And I don't suppose there really is a paper transaction for envelopes full of money. Do you? I don't suppose there is a line item in the financial statements of the LIberal party that says: "Stolen and laundered Money". Do you? OF COURSE THERE IS NO DOCUMENTATION, IT WAS STOLEN.

Oh, gee what a clever retort, but absolutely of no importance. So where would you find a paper trail of money laundering and kickbacks? At least I only have one name.
