A highly contagious bacterial disease is spreading in four provinces, infecting as many as 2,000 people with a violent, uncontrollable cough and killing an infant in Alberta, as public-health authorities scramble to boost their vaccination programs.

British Columbia’s Fraser Valley, southern Alberta, parts of Southwestern Ontario and New Brunswick are dealing with severe outbreaks of a disease that was once on the wane – pertussis, more commonly known as whooping cough, which can be especially deadly if contracted by infants. The United States, meanwhile, appears headed for its worst year for whooping cough in more than five decades, with more than 18,000 cases reported so far.

Of course it is returning. That's because stupid parents are refusing to get their children vaccinated, believing "Old Wives Tales" about how "dangerous" vaccines are (they are not).

I predict that Polio will be coming back too, because too many people will believe anyone except for doctors.

We have been through this before and millions died. Today they do not believe us, it's too bad because more will die, they will learn the hard way.

Population control, I am hoping for more like billions.. sorry folks. I think the world is way over populated and needs to be trimmed back to the 1950's population level..

I don't think the earth can sustain our population level..

I don't your pocket book, or mine, can sustain a clawback in population levels.

I took my T-Dap inoculation last week. However, it will help me avoid tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis. Let's hope this menace can be stopped before it becomes a modern day plague.

Most of the outbreaks are in previously vaccinated populations.

That,s because most modern doctors are drug dealing quacks.

TMO is right, the fault lies completely with do-gooder parents who don't want to inoculate little Suzie or little Jigna.

The anti-vaccination crowd put their own children and others' children at risk. There ought to be an IQ test for prospective parents.

I have to agree with you as far as "survival of the fittest" goes, BUT I don't think that should include a handful of kids that could be protected from Whooping Cough. I think vaccinations are legitimate for protecting healthy people, while I'm not so much for heroic actions to keep old people with organs shutting down alive.

Kreskin,I'd like to think that the ones thinned out wouldn't be missed as far as filling a job.We send millions to places where all they do is eat, breed and kill each other.
