Re: Who will gain most from upcoming federal election debate
The networks.
Of course throwing in a bunch more parties and extending the debates a couple hours may be interesting... say throw in the communists and rhinos, some new agers, pot party it'd be a blast and get different veiwpoints and may actually attract more attention to the issues.
Duceppe is said to be wonderful with debates but who is he talking to? I would geuss most people in Quebec are atuned to PQ because it is good for Quebec as a region and shows unity.(quebec unity...some unity is better than none..)
NDP has to get some support from the debates, how many people watch the debates, who is more likely is it people that value NDP values?
It is crucial for the liberals and conservatives if the polls are going however honestly the liberals and the conservative programs don't seem much different, but maybe I'm just not aware of the major issues. By all rights if the conservatives had the support of their combined parties befor joining they should be beating the liberals out. I don't see any real issues being raised, it seems obvious how the 'issues' need to resolve, and it is just how they are going to solve them. The conservatives were playing themselves off as non proactive, instead being 'conservative' however they are being conservative rather than progresive that is finding new ways to solve the issues, the last thing we need in this more evolving crisis environment is non action. Liberals are said to have been picking up NDP votes, meanwhile Liberals are shadowing conservative key issues. Martin has come out as not being a smooth talker, I don't think that is generally the case, but what ends up being the real issue is the networks not freely allowing 'major' parties voice. The green party has a good 5% of the vote, that is substancial that 5%.
I think that the issues are pretty clear cut for each party though so the debate is somewhat redundant.
If people can't see what the real issues are then we are largely doomed.
Nothing will happen, it is just CULT reinforcement. I find it sad that the Canadian system is conventionally incorrect. There are no new issues, that have a reasonable dispute.
