If anyone made as many insulting and disparaging remarks about gays as Scott Free makes about Americans, that person would be declared - rightfully - a homophobe.

Indeed, programs like Focus on the Family censor themselves; they know that some of the venom they spout against gays will be considered hate speech in Canada. An American would NEVER define himself saying: "I am certainly not Canadian!", but for a Canadian (not me, mind you) the most defining difference is saying: "I am certainly not American".
