In his latest comedy, The Love Guru, Mike Myers plays Guru Pitka, an Eastern mystic called in to improve the on-ice performance of Darren Roanoke (Romany Malco), the star forward for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and thus improve the team's chance of winning the elusive Stanley Cup.
What do you think is the best hockey movie ever?

It made me think of how much I liked 'men with brooms' though. Canadian ice sport movie... close enough right?

"Slap Shot" was said to have been inspired by the crazy life of Jack Carlson who was known as quite a fighter in his playing days. He has abandoned his crazy ways and works today in Minneapolis as, of all things, a preacher!

heheheh I think someone should make a good movie about foolball in the same sort of style as "Slapshot". Could pad the players up so they look like the Michelin Tire Man ( a relative of the Staypuffed Marshmallow Man). Have the players playing craps in the huddles or something. (We all know they need the break after the exhausting 10 or 15 seconds of play they just did).
Anyway, I liked "Slapshot". Laughed a lot through it.
