Why the fuck would he deliberately give a Nazi salute on stage and on camera? He's the richest person in the world and he's not achieved that by being as stupid as you're making him out to be.
I thought it would be too so I went into it thinking "Eh, people making too much out of it."
But then I saw it.
Sorry TB, but in this, no way; that was an actual Nazi Salute. You fade out the color, date the clothes back to the 30's and Musk wouldn't look out of place in Germany at any rally.
If society condemns people in groups who shout "Jews will not replace us!" doing that same gesture, then there is no giving Peon a break in that regard.

I did. I waited until I saw the actual video and didn't assume from the get go.
After seeing the video, what I saw was a Nazi salute. Or Roman Imperial salute, whatever you want to call it.
Again, if you don't excuse actual people who claim to be Nazi's throwing that out there, you can't excuse that.
