What? You don't even have an opinion on what a "nation" is?

How can that be, when you seem certain on what a nation isn't. Since you stated First Nations are not nations.

Wouldn't that denote you had some standard?

So you don't have a standard, or you've run away from another thread you can't get the upper hand in.

I'm leaning to the latter. Since you've offered no contrary evidence of any kind.

Well I guess Cannuck, has actually run away from this discussion.

So lets recap...

He couldn't counter the bulk of the OP, so he ignored it.
He dismisses international law and the UN's definition of nation, but acknowledges international law and UN legal precedence. When it suits him.
He uses all manner of fallacy, to avoid an actual discussion. While dancing around with word play.

Here's the way it works Bear. For some people, International law is GREAT as long as it backs up what they believe. If it goes against their "beliefs", then it ain't worth shyte.

There are all kinds of models for nations. Some have one or two or even four languages,
that are official. There are various societies with a society and there are different and at
time challenging differences among the traditions of the citizens.
We call that multiculturalism and it exists in several nations, mostly societies in the west.
The problem is we allow people from nations that have nothing in common with our own.
We allow them to come here set up shop and begin to attempt the dismantling of our way
of life. Instead of using the nations laws to protect the citizens who have got along for
generations, they change the basic societal patterns to favour one group or groups over
another, and in that the nation breaks down into eventual chaos.

We are in fact slowly coming to a crossroad of discontent, where both the inhabitants and
the new comers will not be satisfied. We are not celebrating a nation in this country anymore,
we are a collection of discontented villages that if left unchecked will be irreconcilable.

And that will lead to a totalitarian regime. China has about 50 distinct cultural groups and a massive population. Democracy would not work there that is why, although communism is just about dead in China, the government still wields an iron fist, otherwise the country would descend into chaos in a heart beat.

That might have something to do with Canada about to elect a paranoid despot to a majority government, why we need more mega prisons and police crack downs on descent of any kind.

Nope, still here.
Absent an opinion, yes, I can see you hiding and avoiding answering questions.

Isn't that something you frown on in others?

Like insults?

But I can understand why you're afraid to offer your opinion of what a nation is. You're terrified I'll tear it apart.

So hiding is a good idea for you.

Here's the way it works Bear. For some people, International law is GREAT as long as it backs up what they believe. If it goes against their "beliefs", then it ain't worth shyte.
Oh how true. And Cannuck is an excellent example of that. which is why he won't debate or discuss international law with me. he knows full well, he'd be made a fool of.

Yes. I think I've made it quite clear that without new ideas this thread is stale.
That's why I asked you for your opinion of what a nation is.

You acknowledge legally, the SCC, International treaty that Canada voluntarily signed on to, recognize First Nations as such. But despite all that, along with other material you refuse to even address, in your mere opinion, we still are not.

So, in your opinion, what is a nation?
