I don't even know who Bono is or was and when did 'I' vote for him? I thought we lived in a democracy. I remember Sonny Bono but he was an American entertainer and then Congressman...I didn't vote for him either.

Bono, whatever his message, doesn't speak for me. I speak for myself. The PM should listen to the folks who elect the MPs and not elitist Rock Stars

No, I don't want the PM 'doing lunch' with the CEO of Exxon before he 'does lunch' with every one of his constituents.

RE: What Bono has to say

So considering that Bono speaks for a fairly large number of Canadians who have been following these issues, would you rather have Bono putting very public political pressure on Paul Martin or would it be better if the CEO of Exxon (who speaks only for the interests of Exxon) talked to Martin privately?

good points. But politely listening/"hearing him" is important. (old fashioned PR.......but "listening" does not imply bowing to such star studded criticism. ) Bono has his own agenda too......and might not be aware of the whole picture in Canada. But he is free to say what he wants. Just as "we" are free to hear him. What we do about it is our choice.---and has to fit in the larger scheme of things too. Nothing complicated about that one. He can criticize all he wants.........but he is not Canadas leader. and not in the decision making capacity. Don't take crticism from "stars" all that seriously anyhow. As stated.....they too have their own agenda and are using their "star" status to achieve it. Not saying his motives are not constructive. (they seem to be as far as one can tell) It is just how this is handled.

It might have been a lot more diplomatic and tactful of Bono to thank Martin for Canada's contribution and quietly suggest that if more was possible. it would be greatly appreciated. That leaves the door open and no one's feelings are "hurt".

There is a very strong rumor that Bono doesn't pay one cent of income tax in his native country, and that his so called foundation is a hoax. I wish he'd go back to making music!

Yup, can't shut him up, so start a rumour. Cowardly character assassination...another hallmark of the right.

Isn't it funny that its always the left that *does* and its always the right that stands on the sidelines throwing stones.

RE: What Bono has to say

Their stone-throwing is always so stupid too. Somebody on the left is rich. Somebody else is fat. Somebody else may or may not have tax problems. Some of the women don't look like fashion models.

Not a lot of substance there at all.
