What are your obstacles to employent?

You haven't said what kind of job you're looking for, what you may be qualified for, or what your experience is. Though it's not likely you'll find a potential employer here, someone may lead you in the right direction. I'm sure most of us don't want to post our CV's here either, but I'll tell you about my experience with inexperience. My wife and I moved south after having spent too much time up north, I had a skill that no one wanted or needed in the south, the job market was absolutely flat. We moved across the country until one of us found a job, (we were both unemployed). My wife was the firs to find work and I parked myself on the doorstep of a potential employer in that town until they hired me. I would go and chat with the potential boss, have coffee, whatever, every few days. It only took about three weeks before they hired me part time. I worked hard for them and they rewared me in kind. They worked me part time for six months but I worked my arse off for them and they rewarded me in kind. I stayed for 3 years before I left for greener pastures, but I still remain friends with them and that was over 30 years ago.
Mine is a bit of a different philosophy, you can either cast a wide net and hope to catch something, or angle for a specific job, which is what I did, and still do. Either way, it takes patience and persistance. My way of targeting a single employer and being persistant has worked for me over the years, but that's just the way I work.

Hello Angry jobseeker; I don't want to discourage you in any way so pay attention to what I say. First we are not in a normal recession we have entered full great depression and it will last for at least a decade if not several. In my opinion you have made an exciting but unfortunate selection for a career, there will be very slow travel and tourism for the forseeable future, see Air Canada. You are not alone in unemployment and everyday you are joined by hundreds of thousands of others in similar and worse circumstances. The law won't feed you unless you're inside, many have already opted into this arrangement. Things are tough and they are going to get very much tougher very soon so you should concentrate on the necessities of life. Find allies, build a cooperative, live in a group setting, get back to the land, or join the military if you can and don't mind the roughness of combat and an uncertain future. Sorry I've got no sunshine for you, I think it's better for you to think about the state of the global economy for a while and then to protect yourself from it. The good old days are over for a long long time. I know people in similar circumstances in my community, lots of them and more every day. Buy some work boots and rough warm clothing.

there's always obstacles to finding work. lack of experience, economy, not enough education. But just remember, whether ur looking for a job or looking for a better job. theres resources out there. employment centers, sites such as monster, workhopolis, GoworkBC - The Search Engine for jobs in BC for jobs in bc.

YJ ,have you tried Temp Agencies , I know they're not the greatest, but they *do * get you your whmis ticket ( you become their meal ticket when they can rent you out),and there is a better chance that a temp employer will hire you if they like your work.
It also sounds like you are a independent soul, perhaps starting a business ( even a small one ) would suit you better...

I talked to my brother (Angry Jobseeker) this weekend, and he's doing fine. He'd moved out a couple weeks ago (no, I didn't kick him out; he's always welcome here), and he's doing fine, working as a travel agent, and not as angry anymore. As for the gutter mouth, that surprised me too. He normally doesn't talk like that in real life. I guess he was just trying to let out his frustrations. I guess he'd seen me on this forum and decided later, why not, let's blow some steam on that forum.
