I like this song. This was a big hit in 1990 for Essex synthpop veterans Depeche Mode, the most successful electronic band of all time. The lads have just released their new album.

This is "Enjoy The Silence". The song won Best British Single at the 1991 BRIT Awards.

I met a gin soaked, bar-room queen in Memphis,
She tried to take me upstairs for a ride.
She had to heave me right across her shoulder
'Cause I just can't seem to drink you off my mind.

It's the honky tonk women
Gimme, gimme, gimme the honky tonk blues.

I laid a divorcee in New York City,
I had to put up some kind of a fight.
The lady then she covered me with roses,
She blew my nose and then she blew my mind.

It's the honky tonk women
Gimme, gimme, gimme the honky tonk blues.

It's the honky tonk women.
Gimme, gimme, gimme the honky tonk blues.

It's the honky tonk women.
Gimme, gimme, gimme the honky tonk blues

Here are Depeche Mode performing their 1981 hit "New Life", one of their first singles. This was when founding member Vince Clarke was still a member of the band. He eventually left the band in 1982 and went on to form Yazoo (with Alison Moyet) in 1982 and Erasure (with Andy Bell) in 1985. Clarke was replaced by Alan Wilder, who left in 1995.

The video is part of an episode of "Synth Britannia", a recent BBC documentary following a generation of British post-punk musicians who took the synthesiser from the experimental fringes to the centre of the pop stage, forming bands like Pet Shop Boys, Ultravox, Soft Cell, OMD, Yazoo and, of course, Depeche Mode.
