Back to the drawing board for Super Mario - who was said to be absolutely livid after the Pens Game 3 loss to the Bruins - he was probably apoplectic after last night's meltdown. His Dream Team eliminated in 4 straight. His Super Stars shut-out. Pitiful really.

Claude Julien and the Boston Bruins deserve full credit for a great series. Tough, gritty, using all four lines to perfection, they came to play and played to win. Congratulations Boston Bruins.

I doubt they will have to wait beyond tonight's Game 5 in the Mad House to see who they will meet for the Cup.

9.4 seconds remaining in the 3rd period - LA down 1 - icing called against Chicago - face-off in Chicago's zone - and Kopitar ties the game. Score: 3 - 3

We're now in OT

These guys are tired.....but LA has more energy so far. They've been really good at pinning Chicago in their end.

The Hawks have picked up their game late in OT but LA is not giving up.

And we are off to double OT...........I don't know how these guys keep going. I agree with Bob Cole on one thing, I do hope it is a 'good' goal that takes the game.

Now I have the arduous task of rooting for Chicago, while holding my nose! I guess if I was a poor sport I could always hang on to the hope Duncan Keith will get mugged in the process. -:)

Now that's the way to win a WCF........a hat-trick goal by Patrick Kane off a beautiful pass from Jonathan Toews and Quick had no chance. Patrick may have been slow to join the fray in this series but his finish.........was something to behold. Rock on Patrick.

Full credits to the Kings for their gutsy play and pushing the game to double OT. Great game Kings.

Wednesday will see the first game of the Stanley Cup finals in the Mad House. I think this is going to be fun to watch.

Ah come on, JLM.........just cross you eyes so the logos blur on the jerseys.......maybe we will get to enjoy some really good hockey. :p:smile:

I'm just going to sit back and cheer for whichever team is playing well at the time. My ax is back in the wood pile.

just back from victoria for weekend, attending pga canadian tour golf tournament, lots of fun.

history is history, I have no bad feelings for any past eventsthat took place against canucks or any other team.

I loved the finish last night, beautiful goal from a couple of elite players, I was just saying to my
daughter, in our hotel room, "I'm thinking that the very youngplayers will now emerge to show more
energy and lasting power as the rest of them become a bit weary, and not a minute later, that beautiful
goal happened.
Good for them.

I will be cheering loudly for 'our' western team, the chicago blackhawks, boston is also a good team,
and I enjoyed watching them defeat pittsburg, but they are the east, so they are not on my list.

Watching boston as a neutral onlooker, showed me how good marchand really is, a fine hockey player,
and obviously a bit more mature than two years ago, and I'm sure when he looks back at himself doing
some of the immature things he did, he must feel silly, but they won, so that does overshadow lots
of things.

Same with chicago, duncan keithpaid for his elbow on sedin long ago, sat out 5 games if I remember correctly,
so that is over, i'm not dragging it along with me, takes away from the enjoyment of the game, as he is
their best defenceman, and I will cheer for him to do well, and I hope the cup stays in the west where
it belongs.

GO WEST GO

5th longest game in Stanley Cup history and a double deflection by the Hawks finally ends it in triple OT. Couldn't have asked for a more exciting start to the Cup. In the early going it looked as though the Bruins were going to sail off to a victory but the Hawks had other plans and after being down by 2 were able to come back and tie the game to send it into OT.

ROCK ON CHICAGO..........WAY TO TO GO GUYS!

very good game, and as expected it took a while for the teams to balance out against each other,
boston looked stronger for awhile, but chicago found their game in the 3rd, boston had some good
chances in OT, but chicago was not going away, good win for them at home, a very important win,
and a very costly loss for boston, as they have to win in chicago to win the series.

go chicago go

elaine vineault has come to terms with the 'new york rangers', and will be their coach starting the coming, 2013/14 season.

I'm am very happy for him, he is a very good coach, and will be a positive influence as their
coach, the team will do well under him.

AND

torterella has interviewed in vancouver, and some feel his chances of being canuck's new coach
are good, but that is only media news.

they are taking their time, have interviewed many, and I suspect we will hear soon, whom they
have decided to hire.

I was in a chat room & correctly predicted a "win" for Bruins as refs disallowed a legit Chi goal. I'm betting it will be a full 7 game series as this will bring more $ into the NHL. Others in the chat agreed. Let the players decide the winner, not the refs, PLEASE!

I didn't watch the game tonight, but that ref incompetence thing, is an ongoing problem, and they have
been far too much a part of the game, than just officiating the game. Too bad.

The puck was in the net long before a ref even thought about blowing a whistle. The ref behind the net had no idea it was in, waived it off. No common sense used with instant replay. The rest is history.

I am happy for Alain too, talloola. Hope the Big Apple treats him well. Will be interesting to see what the Rangers can do next season. They are lucky to have him.

Yep, heard that Torts was called back for a second interview.........also heard the Canucks are interviewing someone else but are keeping mum about his identity. Torts as HC of the Canucks?..............I can hear the fans howling all ready. LOL!

I said before, that I would be very unhappy if they hired torterella, BUT I am smiling as I visualize

the media all lining up to ask him questions, immediately reminds me of the 'soup nazi' on seinfield. lol

But, but..............Buttman says the NHL refs are the 'best in the world' doncha know............LOL! I can't see anything changing as long as the little twerp stays in power, gopher..........it's all about the American market and to hell with whether the refs are deciding games or not. Chicago was robbed of the goal as numerous replays showed the puck was clearly behind the goal line - absolutely no question. It came down to whether the ref could 'see' the puck clearly - which he couldn't as it was hidden from him by the foot and pad of Tukka. Might have been an entirely different outcome had the goal been 'good'. Ah well, with the tie it makes Chicago have to work a lot harder if they want a win in Boston - they did slack off in the 3rd - didn't have the 'legs' they needed to keep up with Boston.

Listening to Bob McKenzie on the panel about Torts and the Canucks the other day.........as he mentioned, many of the problems that plagued the Rangers under Torts are also problems facing the Canucks.........Bob didn't think Tort's style of coaching would benefit the Canucks at all. For sure the Canucks would be in the headlines with Torts behind the bench..........if for nothing else then his famous media scrums as you mention.,

The only reason, in my opinion that gillis would hire torterella, is to feed him to the media, just to

get back at the stupid media in vancouver. lol

I don't really know what his style of coaching is, as he was a very offensive coach in tampa bay, then
became a very defensive, (block everything) coach in new york, and he isn't made fun of by other
coaches, like he is by the media.

ferraro said he thinks he is a very good coach, but proceeded to pick him apart
for the next five minutes, noting many of his shortcomings, go figure.

If gillis does hire him, I would hope that he would 'tell' him sternly, 'NOT' to trash canuck players
through the media, that is so tacky, and he loses credibility in my eyes when he does that.

The fellow from los angelos seems to be high on their list, forget his name, assistant to sutter.
