I also heard he would be the new coach of the American Olympic Hockey team, talloola.............would be nice if he has learned that his previous style of coaching is no longer relevant.

yes, he has been chosen for that role, interesting but very puzzling indeed.

Classic sign of desperation on the part of 'management'-idiots who will soon all be out of a job.

they just needed to address their poor goaltending right now, but they chose something much more
desperate sounding, now torterella will spend about 3 months teaching 'his' system, which is
not the answer, much easier to find that particular goalie who is just waiting and itching to
be given a chance.

this is already a very good team, who have already learned a good system, now they have to
throw that out the window and start all over, I just don't get it.

I heard Alex Burrows talking today about Torts. He said that what most people don't get a chance to see is he's a really good hockey guy. Very strong technically and is good at teaching the game to the players. The average Joe just sees Torts on the surface.

I saw what torts did to the team throughout the year, I saw edler go to minus 33, I saw the team look
like I've never seen them before, I saw the twins game go very quiet, I heard torterella say that the
'core' of the team is stale, I heard torterella ask for burrows to be bought out, I saw torterella
directly send luongo off the team when he stupidly sat him out in the winter classic, and luongo
not long after stated that, that was the last straw for him, I saw torterella act like a stupid
fool in Calgary, sucked in by Hartley, then losing it completely, I saw a team become totally
confused and go down the toilet as the year went on, then I saw a big turnaround next season
when Desjardin came on board.

he might seem strong technically outside of a 'game', but in a game he loses his way, panics,
makes stupid faces after many plays, and of course the camera is on him, as they know what
he is going to do.

he has the gift of the gab, and talks a great game.

and of course he could have learned lots from the canuck experience, hope he has, he isn't stupid,
he can learn, and he can mature, takes some people a long time.

he is being given a very good team, hope he keeps it that way.

Min is beating CBJ. Has Torts gone crazy yet?

I watched an interview with him on Sportscentre today, Kreskin. He had the old penitent thing going and spoke of having to listen a lot more as he feels it was one of his downfalls. We'll see how that works for him.

Habs 8 and 0 on the season after whupping the Sabres 7 - 2.

yep, they are rolling, canucks will have to put a stop to that next week.

looks like mcDavid is the leading scorer on the oilers now, but they lost to Washington.
Washington have a very strong team, thought they might go all the way last year, looks like
they will challenge again this season.

Calgary defeated Detroit in overtime, trailed the whole game, scored right near the end,
then again in ot.

l.a. leading Carolina in the third 1-0

Carey Price allowed the Leafs three goals but the Habs scored 5 of their own to win their 9th straight game of the season. Rock on Habs.

yep, carey price let in 3, but Toronto had 49 shots on price, only 27 against Toronto.
habs coach said his team did not play very well, even though they won, yes, that happens from time to time.

canucks game was a very fast very entertaining game, they were all over det. for 2 periods,
det. came out in the 3rd, didn't do much till they scored a goal, then all hell broke loose, they
came to life, tied it up, scored in OT to win the game.
I said to my husband "I sure hope all of these great chances and shots that aren't going in don't
come back to haunt them in the 3rd", need I say more.
have to give lots of credit to det. goalie, he played a hell of a game, and miller was good too,
just happened to lose, of course they get a point, but that isn't what they were after.

Calgary looked good in the first period, but rangers gradually came on, and took the
game away from Calgary, another loss, they are now struggling.

Edmonton was ripped off, but not much can be done about it, it was obvious that mcDavid
scored to tie up the game, but because the puck could not been seen under quick's glove,
which was over the line, they couldn't overturn the original call of 'no goal', but it
was a goal, they'll have to invent a camera under the ice inside the goal to show the
puck, as this happens from time to time.
there was only about 10 seconds left in the game.

l.a. 3 Calgary 2

Winnipeg over minny 5-4, sorry I missed this game, was probably the best game
of the lot, always enjoy watching Winnipeg.

isles over flames - 4-0

ariz. over Toronto - 4-3

chic. over annaheim - 1-0 OT

watched a bit of the Calgary game, isles definitely looking good so far this season, Calgary still
struggling.

watched most of the chic. annaheim game, very good game, annaheim finally looking like the team
I know, they were the better team in the 3rd, but in OT, as soon as captain serious, jonathan
toews showed up, look out, a drop pass from kane to him, and that's all she wrote.

Taking a long shot here but only because neither Sportsnet nor the NHL have ever responded to this. Does ANYONE here understand why the hell games with Canadian teams are blacked out outside of their market? It's freakin' ridiculous that on a night when 3 Canadian teams were playing, the only game being broadcast in this part of Ontario was Anaheim at Chicago. Not that I didn't watch it but what the hell man!?

that's crazy, I don't understand It either, guess the only way you can avoid that is to have 'nhl center ice',

When canucks are playing 'anywhere' sportsnet shows the game back to their own market, always, exception is when they are playing 'hockey night in canada', then
of course it is that channel.

saw dallas come from down 3 zip to a 4-3 victory, anaheim have an uphill struggle,
but in all honesty, I think they will climb up that hill as the season goes on.

saw Edmonton go ahead of minn, but fall behind after 2 very quick goals, Edmonton played well,
and mcDavid getting better and better, he is certainly special.

saw canucks grab this game by the throat and hold on tight till the final bell went.
poor habs, the first time they have been out of their time zone. boo hoo, they must
be exhausted. lol
this is specially sweet for me, after watching all the habs fans standing around 'our'
canucks rink, with the wrong sweater on, tsk tsk.(and those fans didn't travel with the team, they
live in Vancouver), too bad the team they did 'not' cheer for, 'WON', actually their home team.

on the road now for canucks.
